Well I guess it was time, and of course it had to be done, but Dh took Ollie to the vet this morning to be neutered. I just heard from the vet and she told me it went very smoothly, he has no outside sutures, and he is resting comfortably...She loves him and told me that he has such a gorgeous coat, it is wavy and curly, and very lush, lol...She told me that he should be kept sort of quiet for 2 days, lol, yeah right, I asked her for some meds for him, she said she doesn't like to do that unless absolutely necessary...So we shall see, we will pick him up at 6 tonight...I am hoping he is drugged from the anesthesia tonight, so he won't get get too rambunctious...I miss the kid, lol, it is too quiet here with only one dog...Oh by the way, he will be 6 mos old on the 3rd of Oct. and he weighs 55 lbs as of this morning...Me thinks he is going to be a BIG Boy, oh well just more to love....Cheryl

Be glad you have a male! They told me two weeks ago that Peri had to be calm for TEN DAYS after her spay. Are you kidding?? All turned out okay. Don't worry Cheryl!
Feel better soon Ollie. He should do fine. No outside sutures, that is great. Nothing to lick
Thanks Karen and yes he has not even gone to the area to lick.....And he is back to his normal self today, and it is not easy to keep him from his normal rough housing with our other dog, but I am trying, lol...
Ollie will be sooo fine tonight. Thomas our GD was spayed at 7 mths and they sent him home with an E collar-as soon as we got home we took it off so he could drink water from his bowl. We never put it back on. In fact he chewed the thing up later that week. Better that than his stitches! We couldn't keep him calm unless we tied him down and that was not going to happen. We just let him do his thing in the house, but of course limited his activities outside to prevent infection. He came thru it like nothing had ever happened and I am sure Ollie will too. And BTW-55 lbs at 6 mths-yes he is going to be big! The big ones are sooo cute and gentle. Our guy is 1 today and I would guess is 80 lbs. Good luck this week.
Heu Debbie, he is fine...he was out of it last night, lol, but he seems fine today. He is eating and drinking fine, and he is his normal self. Like I said he has no sutures, and he is not going to lick the area, so no need for the e-collar so far...the biggest problem is keeping him from jumping and rolling around with my other dog. But we are trying, lol, so far so good...thanks again, and yes I think he will be around 80 lbs too...Just more to love...
I hope that Ollie recovers well. My 7 month old was neutered last Friday and is still miserable. He has outside sutures and has to wear the cone. He is CONSTANTLY trying to get to the stitches- they must hurt and itch. My vet finally gave him some pain meds but has not seemed to work. We'll just have to wait it out- only 8 more days but whose counting??haha

Best of luck
Oh Brooke, I am so sorry that your guy is so miserable...I had that with ny other dog when he was neutered, and it was awful...That is why I went with a different vet then my normal one, because my vet does not do the neutering with a lazer procedure. I had heard that this was easier and heals much quicker from several of my friends that had it done to their dogs. So I went to a vet that a friend of mine uses, and they did it...He is fine today, and not going after the area, at all...And no sutures for him to get at. They did give him Rimydil for a couple of days, 1/2 tab twice a day, but they told me I did not have to bring him back unless there was a problem...But I will still use my other vet when necessary, I have used him for 25 yrs, so I am not changing vets, lol...Hope your guys is better soon...Cheryl
I just have to tell you guys, that after Olivers procedure yesterday the vet called me to tell me everything was fine and she commented on his gorgeous coat...To quote her, lol, it is so gorgeous, so thick and wavy, and somewhat curly, just magnificent. And his color is just unreal...I was so shocked, I didn't know wht to say other then thank you...I think he has an unusual coat in its thickness and texture, but didn't think that anyone else would notice...I had him groomed last week to shape in into what I considered a good looking doodle dude, and he turned out great...I am going to see if I can get a really good picture and try and post it...I am sure tht his coat is not that unusual for a gd, but it is interesting...It is thick and sort of shaggy, but very thick with waves, and slight curling...His color is now the color of a golden retriever, but he has a white chest....He is really very handsome, lol...I sound like a crazy person, lol, I know, but I thought it was really something that the vet said something to me about it...She was not my reg. vet, as my vet does not do neutering with lazer (sp), but I wanted it done that way..So I used a vet that came highly recommended...I did go and meet with her before I booked the app't for the procedure, and I liked her...Well Ollie is fine today, u would never know he had surgery yesterday...He is giving me a heck of a time, trying to keep him quiet today...I checked the area, it is fine, no outside sutures, so no licking...He is back to his normal self....They say that the healing is much quicker with this procedure, and no awful e-collar to deal with. !!!!..Thanks for letting me brag, lol
