Do you let your doodle(s) on the couch or other furniture. Rosey and Bandit can get on the couch and the bed.  I love snuggling on the couch and in bed with them.  What are your doodle's rules?

No couch, no bed.  We broke the rules a handful of times for Rosco and Thule -- maybe once or twice a year.  But by then neither one really WANTED to be on the couch...they'd get down within 5 minutes.

Boca has never laid on our bed or couches...except a couple times while being held the whole time briefly.

It's not so much the 'dominance' social status issue with me as much as cleanliness.  I swear everyone else has cleaner doodles than I do!  But by the looks of my kitchen floor and Boca's crate bottom after coming in on a muddy day...I do NOT want those paws on my furniture.  Much easier to vacuum and sweep and mop than to scrub my couch (it's not leather).

Haha!  I couldn't handle that.  My house is so far from spotless or organized so don't think THAT...but the less chaos and cleaning I have to do the happier I am.  And I actually like avoiding the sofa wrestling that I'm sure would go on.  I can just imagine sitting and munching on popcorn and suddenly BAM I get knocked over by doodles who are biting each other's legs and launching off my lap!  I feel like the biggest DK weirdo with our no-furniture rule, but it works for us and the doods are no less happy.

I read both of your posts on this Adina and I am with you all the way on everything you said!  My dogs get sooooo smelly and dirty.  I usually bathe and groom my two.  I decided to give my back a break and had them bathed and brushed out.  Cost me $40.00.  Within 2 days of playing in the snow they were back to the same smelly, dirty doods.  Over the holidays I was dog sitting for Shadow, the dog that my ex husband and I had together.  I was hugging him and I noticed how nice he smelled compared to Sheba and Duke.  Shadow hasn't had a bath in quite a few months.  What's up with that??  Why are my two so smelly all the time?? :-0

Sometimes I feel bad that I don't let them sleep on the couch/bed and I won't allow them to kiss me on my face/mouth.  But, I do snuggle with them on the floor and let them lick my hands so I can't be all that bad!  Ha, Ha

Maybe I should get a dog couch like Joanne has.  Duke would really love that!!

Ah another kindred spirit!  It's not surprising we share a birthday!  I don't feel bad for mine at all...they don't ever beg to use our furniture and don't make sad puppy dog eyes about it.  They are totally happy with the living situation.

Everyone always says that a good brushing and all the dirt falls off.  Well...I dunno.  Even when I think they look clean a good washing shows a lot of dirty water and even after their bath they leave dirty foot prints on their towels.  Some people feel like their house is in order if their kitchen sink is clean.  I feel like my house is in order if my floors are clean...doodles don't make that very easy! LOL

My DH drinks wine and eats chips on the couch and gets drool and crumbs all over too.  LOL.  Little Murphy is much better on the furniture than his daddy:)  Murphy just wants to be wherever mommy is.  I am so lucky!

Neely not only is allowed on our couch and our bed, he invites his best friend over and they wrestle on the couch and run from one loveseat to the other sliding them across the wood flooring when they do. The lab isn't allowed on the furniture at home so that's the first thing he does when he gets here..

Yep that sounds familiar!!  We have a couch, loveseat and fat chair and they love to chase on the furniture and the bed.  Sometimes Bandit doesn't get enough of a running start to jump on the bed and he will hang of the side like a cat until I get him, it's really funny!
I see your point, we keep throws on the couch so we can just wash them.
Oh don't even go there
Oh Joanne!!  They are good for keeping warm in this freezing cold weather!!  How is that M-U-G by the way??
The mug is empty.  NO, I would never allow my dogs on the couch!  Never

Okay let me be honest before some ol' timer on here tells on me.  Yes, I do.  Yes, My DOGS HAVE THEIR VERY OWN COUCH

Here is the old one.

And here is my confession to killing a couch.

THE DEATH OF A COUCH
