Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I know most of you know about Pink and October being National Breast Cancer month. But before we get there, September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness month. Childhood Cancer's support color is gold (yellow). This cause is very near and dear to my heart as my daughter was diagnosed at age 5 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. After 2 1/2 years of chemotherapy she is a survivor. She's been off therapy for a year and a half and is doing great. If you can, please where gold or yellow one time during September (or have your doodle!) in honor of all of the Survivors and Warriors of Pediatric Cancer. It is the number one killer of Children in our country. These kids are such strong and wonderful souls. Here are our doodles and my daughter Grace supporting the cause. I love my doodles but I am so very proud and inspired by my daughter. She is my hero. :) GO GOLD!

Joanne, lovely photos and words.
Joanne, bless you for making this trip and sharing it with us. A dear friend of mine died of GBM 7 years ago and I miss her like it was yesterday. The children on the Memorial Wall brought tears but it looking at all the sunflowers makes me smile. Beautiful post.
Joanne, what a beautiful message..thank you for sharing!
Beautiful thoughts Joanne, thank you for sharing them.
Beautiful post and pictures, Joanne! Thank you for sharing your visit to such a special place. Look at all those prayers!! Cancer has affected my family more times than I care to think of, and I lost my mom to oligodendroglioma, so brain cancer awareness is a cause close to my heart - this is an interesting post to see. And, I grew up in NE Ohio, so it's a nice connection to see something from up there, too.
PS - love the pic of Spud running. What joy!
I will be happy to wear gold this month in honor of Grace and all the other survivors and warriors. This is the most darling picture of your girl and her doods - so sweet! I don't think I've seen a happier bunch!!
Lynda,
I am so sorry to hear you lost your very own sister so many years ago to this horrible form of cancer.
My mother had a non-aggressive form of brain cancer. She is a survivor. This hits us all.
Your photos are beautiful!! You are beautiful! :)
We walked for 1 hr. 45 min. at the trail at Toro Park (Salinas) today and had several questions about the gold scarfs. I was happy to say that it was for Pediatric Cancer awareness. In two weeks we will also be wearing the gold at Carmel Poodle Days.
