Today, I had big plans and was going to get a ton of stuff done, or so I thought. Vern and Fudge were supposed to go to the dog sitter for the day, but she called this morning and was sick. Ok, change of plans. I decided to do something with each dog individually.

First up was Vern and we went to the dog park. It is a pretty long drive over there and guess what...no dogs at the dog park. We waited a bit and Vern was having a good time running all over the place and he even located a toy in a tree and actually stood under it for a little while. What a hound dog :) Finally, a couple of dogs came, he played and we went home.

Fudge was next and we went for a walk on our PA Rail Trail. I decided to let her enjoy the scenery and the trail and not worry about any training. She did great. We saw lots of wild life and some not so wild life. Of course, the first thing we ran into was a ground hog. Next, we saw a beautiful Heron just standing in the field. We passed 16 cows, one black cat, a squirrel, lots of birds, ducks, a furry dog, a man with long grey hair, and on the way home, a hawk.

Yesterday, on our walk two deer stopped right in front of us and then when the dogs started barking, quickly ran off. Also, on the way to the store with the dogs in the car, a large bunch of birds flew out of the nearby cornfield and I assumed they were vultures. But, as I turned the corner, a truly magnificent bird (looked like a pheasant, wild turkey, not sure) was standing right there. Of course, I never have my camera when I see these creatures.

What have you encountered on your walks with your dogs?

That is a little too wild for me. I hate snakes.
My sisters Doodle in Vancouver 'found' a skunk which promptly sprayed him and he then ran into the house!  They had to employ anti -skunk smell people to get rid of the stentch!
Our dogs have wanted out a couple of nights and when I opened the door, I could smell a skunk. This is one of the things I am afraid is going to happen someday...yuck!
That's funny - the same thing happened to my sister's dog (not a doodle) in Vancouver. My 4-year old niece said to me, "Aunt Kate, Murray got cunked by a cunk and went in my room!" My sister had to clarify.
I bet that cunk stunk. This doesn't sound right..LOL
I thought the same thing after I posted it. Then I thought, "oh well". LOL
Wow, that does sound wild...LOL! You were nice to walk it home.
Squirrels and chipmunks.....lots and lots of them.  We also often see flocks of Canadian Geese, and Murph is scared to death of them.
Our property is a squirrel and chipmunk resort...they make my life hell sometimes :) So far, Vern and Fudge are not afraid of geese.
Let me think.....well, there was a deer head :-)
It only counts, if it was moving. Wait a minute, it was, Webster was moving it all by himself...LOL.
Wild pigs and black bears - oh wait - we were warned that we might see those on a walk, never saw the bears and only saw the pigs from our lani.  We did see a baby gator sunning itself last week but Rooney didn't really see what we were looking at as the baby was being very still.  The other night, after dark Rooney did come face to face with a very large bunny rabbitt - the both just stood still and stared at each other.  Guess thats about it.
