Pancreatitis and Canidae dogfood?

my dogs were on canidae lamb and rice dog food prior to being switched to beneful brand.  But canidae was hard to find then.          Would canidae (any brand) be a good food to switch a dog, with pancreatitis to?     certain canidae foods come in 35 lb bags like lifestages (mixed meat)  and  lamb and rice.    Would life stages be ok for pancreatitis?             thanks again for your help. :)

 rosco is still at vets and is receiving iv fluids and antibiotics to treat him for pancreatitis but treatment only started at 9pm last night. vet said this afternoon that there is still no improvement but he did not vomit so they tried a sm amount of food this morning but he just dumped his bowl and ate none of it. He has not eaten since friday morning. but vomited that all up.     he ate saturday breakfast but vomited all that up as well.    so really no food since thursday dinner.         We will get update tomorrow from vet again.   if stll no improvement by wednesday, it probally is cancer and we will have to put him down.

I am so sorry to her that Roscoe is ill.  Has he had pancreatitis before? I hope he recovers soon and is well.  I have fed my 16 yr old aussie Canidae since he was a pup.  He eats the All Life Stages, and has been on that food since he was a pup.  He does very well on it, and at this point in his life I am not going to change his diet.  I do hope that your Roscoe is bettter tomorrow and I will say a prayer for him...Hugs to you and Roscoe at this very trying time.  How old is he?..I do not know if this food is ok or not, but I am sure that Our resident food maven will have an answer for you...

his pancreatitis enzymes were elevated but xray did show 2 large masses that are not significant with pancreatitis. but pancreatitis can cause imflammation of surrounding organs.    so we are treating rosco for pancreatitis to see if he starts feeling better for 3 days because vet feels it is possible that the masses are imflammation caused by pancreatitis but it would be a unusual reaction that he does not usually see.    We are hoping for the best.  that he is just a strange one like his mom( me)   and will recover   and that it is not cancer.

I would stay away from beneful, and any brand you can buy at the grocery store, it is not good quality. It is full of fillers (such as corn and wheat which are also common allergens) and has low quality meat from unknown sources. Check out the food group for advice on what food to feed - high quality food may cost more but you feed much less of it and your dog will be much healthier for it. Stay away from any food your vet may try to sell you too. You want a high protein low fat food

I would wait longer before you consider euthanizing your pet.... it can take time for treatment to start working, and if it came down to it, i would look for a second opinion before i gave up on my dog
