my friend had a new puppy (their second dog) - a rehome so they dont know much about her history. she is almost 4 months old, and a newfie or newfie cross. she came to then a few weeks ago and was paper trained. they have taught her to go outside and she is no longer having accidents inside (they take her outside every 2 hours). however, she is having accidents when she sleeps. she is not an early spay so thats not caused it, and they are taking her to the vet to check for a UTI. is this common for puppies? will she likely outgrow it? she is crate trained and will pee both in and out her crate when sleeping, though doesnt sleep much in her crate now.
i told him id ask on here as i sure some of you have had similar experiences with your pups.

Sleep incontinence usually occurs in spayed females over the age of 3 and is due to an estrogen deficiency. I hope it's just a UTI.
Me too.
My former neighbour's poodle had this. She had to take estrogen pills daily.
This has always been one of the UTI signs for my girls! Hope that is all it is!
Luna used to do this when she was little - she grew out of it after she was about 6 months old. I imagine she may have just had a UTI, but when she peed in her sleep it was a LOT of pee.
What helped for us was to make sure she didn't have a lot of water before going to bed that way she couldn't have a full bladder when she was in a deep sleep.
thanks for the responses guys
