My 17 month old doodle is obsessed with some electrical outlets.  One of the covers cracked awhile ago and that got her attention.  It's been replaced but she still messes with it.  I put those child protection plugs in but she finds that a challenge and tries to paw and bite them loose.  I am terrified that she is going to electrocute herself.  Anyone have any advice on securing these?

Bitter apple spray! It works wonders with Archie.  Just show the dog your bottle and spray it while he is watching and he won't mess with it again. I swear by this stuff. Its been so successful for me.

We have some but I didn't try it on the outlets.  I forgot about it because my other dogs are someone immune to it.  I'll give it a shot.

This is one I've never heard before. Penny is a very interesting doodle, lol! Hope the bitter apple does the trick!

My thoughts exactly. LOL
My guy when he was a puppy ate every door stopper in my home! I had no clue he was doing it..but noticed one day they were all gone.....

They have more advanced electric outlet covered the just the plastic plug in ones....if the apple bitter doesn't work ...

No advice, I hope you figure it out before she shocks herself! Silly Penny!

Wow, not a good problem to have-I'm sure that a baby store may have some other options for the outlet covers. We have plugs in all ours too, they are pretty tight, I don't think ours could get them out.

The first day Chloe came home, she went right over to the outlet where the cable line is and tried to chew on it! Amazing how they find these things. Good luck. let us know if you find a solution!

Penny has also chewed through a cord and unplugged DH's computer a couple of times. The cords are blocked but she is relentless.  She also claws/digs at things in the house - my office carpet, the cracks in the hard wood floors, baseboards, flowers on the wallpaper, etc. She is a tad on the high strung side.

I looked for something else for the outlets at Home Depot but came up with nothing.  She saw me spray the Bitter Apple last night and ran away so maybe this will work.

My son's friend's pup electrocuted himself and ended up having to be put down so it is a big fear for me.

This is very scary for all involved.....we had a friend who re-named their puppy Jolt, who seemed to be attracted to electrical cords and outlets. It was almost as if he sensed the electrical current. Hoping you are able to find a solution, as Jolt ultimately died from his curiosity.
I would think there must be new and improved deterents for toddlers these days. Good luck!

I would definitely start coating the outlets with Bitter Apple - and if that is not enough or does not adhere well, hot pepper sauce might work.  Be safe, silly doodle!

Believe it or not- google had a direct hit!  Love google:

Nothing new here.  You would think that there were new and improved outlet covers but we didn't find any.  We do have the cord protectors in the office.  I had to smile at the thought of encasing all cords in PVC.  That would be attractive in my living room!

So far the Bitter Apple is holding.  I'll keep my eye on her as usual.

No advice beyond the bitter apple spray...stay safe sweet Penny:)
