Perhaps silly question on bedding!

Getting such fantastic info on this site, I'll put this one out there.  Pet stores have 100's of different dog beds.  I went through several with my westie.  The first one I purchase had a fill (don't remember exactly what it was but it was some kind of natural chips, etc, at least it looked liked that) but iover time, whenever I went to wash the cover, the fill would get so lumpy i spots there was not way I could fluff it out to make it more comfortable to lie on!  So my 2nd bed, boulster and all, was filled with a mcro fill and while it lasted much longer than the first, the fill also seemes to separate and get lumpy and bumpy.

 

I want to get the very best comfort for my little pug/doggie doodle.  Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

Are you getting a Puggle?  Check out perfectdogbed.com.  There are many variations with fabric, size and style.  We love the ones we bought on line several years ago.  The exteriors are washable and they are color coordinated with our house colors.  The Doodles love laying in them.

My dogs love their memory foam pads.  I get 2 inch memory foam (single bed size) and cut it up.  Then I make a zippered cover from artificial lamb's wool.  I prop them up in the bedroom during the day and just flip them down at night.  On the deck and in the laundry room, they have beds ordered from Sierra Trading Post.  They are canvas covers and also zippered, so you just need to remove the cover to launder the bed.  I just wash the covers.  It is so funny the way they ship these beds by mail.  They are compacted and banded so they come in a box about 24 inches square.  We have never been disappointed and the dogs don't even try to tear up the beds.  Good you are thinking about this early.

My advice is to not get a good bed until your puppy is older.  Dex was a little devil and chewed up the first 2 beds we bought him.  They sell beds at Costco that are pretty cheap and Kirby seems to like it.

I agee Leslie!  I will get a cheaper one that's easy to wash during puppy/house training time...but will probably splurge and end up with a foam mattress!  Nothing like a little spoiling!

That's a good idea - some dogs don't even like beds.  Charlotte came home and the first thing she did was curl up on Webster's big bed.  Poor Webster.....it's been Charlotte's bed since then (at least she thinks so).  We also went through a time when Charlotte would go to the dog bed to potty?!!?!?  The bed she claimed from day one!  Maybe she wanted "her" smell on it, I don't know, but I would definitely save the nice bed until your pup is older.

I love Orvis for their beds...and they have so many to choose from.

I agree with Leslie.

I would recommend that you wait until your Doodle is older before you get a bed.

You'll most likely start off with crate training anyway...so...you won't need a bed at first...and you can get the bed you want when your Dood is a bit older...and through the chewing stage.

Orvis has a great Tough Chew Bed that is a great choice! Wonderful color choices too...

They have a money back gaurantee...if your dog chews through it...they will replace the bed!

Go on their sight and sign up for their sales...etc..

They have some great sales on beds every so often...and one might come up while you are waiting!
