This is a question I would really like answered.  Does anyone know of a "Pet Safe" weed killer.

We don't want to use chemicals in our yard that might cause any harm to our dogs and all the

products we have seen do not appear to be safe.  I know we can make our own out of vinegar, but

we are wondering if there is a product we could get that won't also kill the yard and other plants as well.

Sally, this was my experience with vinegar also BUT what I found was that after a period of time it appeared that the plant was regrowing from the original root. Now it may have been seeds germinating in that same area but from looking at it the appearance was that the original plant had not died at the root level only above the ground level. I would be interested in hearing more about your experience with it after a bit of time has passed.

Has anyone else had this experience using vinegar?

Will try to remember to follow it here.  I may forget to update without a reminder, though.  LOL !

F, I agree that bleach is probably more effective.  Only vinegar doesn't stain all my clothes with it, I have so many white

dots of so much of my clothes they almost look tie-dyed.......

I share your pain : )

Hi,  We just started using Safelawn products this summer as it is supposed to be an organic way to fertilize and control weeds, safe suposedly for pets and children.  We still don't let our critters out there right away, for at least a day, but we were getting tired of so many weeds, esp. since our doodle is allergic to the crabgrass that easily takes over in our area.  Not sure if anyone else has used this or not but we are hoping it works.

Julie,

Thank you for the info re Safelawn products.  We have never heard of it and if the vinegar stops working that may be

next on our try list.  We appreciate your input and will try to follow up on how our weeding works.
