There was a post not too long ago about the different type of pet bowls being used. Now there is a safety issue to think about with stainless steel bowls! Always something. Petco issued a warning about some of their stainless steel pet bowls. In part they warning stated
Petco has determined that one of its foreign suppliers used stainless steel mistakenly containing small quantities of Cobalt-60 when fabricating certain orders of certain SKUs/models of stainless steel pet food bowls. Cobalt-60 is a radioactive material commonly used in industrial gauging equipment and other uses."

I'm not sure the kind of radiation emitted could be absorbed that way. I will try to check later.
It would be good to know! Thanks!
We (Camus & me) just got home from work, had dinner - Camus in in beautiful Fiestaware red bowls, and turned on the computer.
I had been tempted a couple of times to buy stainless steel bowls, however the ones I liked were over-the-top in price, but they were the "designer" style bowls and not made in China. I'm sticking with Fiesta for now. I am now a hyper-aware shopper, so much so that when my son called (from France) I had to tell him that I no longer would purchase any products related to human or animal consumption from China. My not so pushy way of warning him to be careful too.
Fortunately, your future home is much stricter about these things than your current home. Things like BHA that are in crappy dog food and even some people food are not allowed in foods in Europe, period.
There's a wonderful line Michael Moore's movie Sicko where a French official is asked about the reasons why the government in France seems to care so much more about the citizens' health and well-being than the U.S. does. His answer is "Here, the government is afraid of the people. In the United States, the people are afraid of the government."
:)
I so enjoyed going food shopping in Paris. A weekly trip to the marché was a gourmet's delight! Everything is fresh and tastes so good. The second weekend I was there the kids told me I could stay home if wanted to, but I told them there was no way they were going without me. And, I can get Acana for Camus in France.
I haven't seen Sicko, but love the quote.
