Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I know we have discussed this many times. But FYI here's the scoop on my two as of today. Both doodles are four as of plan renewal in March, although Luca, can it be, will be five later in the month. The premium is $362 for each The rep, who was very nice when I just called, said that the rates depend on the pet's age, area where you live and the breed. So unless you move everything is based on the age of the pet. My two policies increased $40 from last year. I have a gold plan with $200 deductible, 20% copay and $20,000 limit.

When I asked about future increase the rep suggested I get quotes with different birth dates, which I though was an interesting idea. Of course inflation could really change things.

Good to know.  The renewal for my dogs is coming up soon.

We have VPI and live in Ca. and OF COURSE it seems everything cost more here!  Our first year with the insurance on libby and she was 1 yr. old when we took out the plan was $469.00 and it is coming due very soon! We have bascially the same limit, co pay as you do and our deductible is $250.00  I might be shopping around and compare some prices.

Can't hurt as long as Libby has no preexisting conditions.

I pay almost $100.00 more for Jack who will be four in march.. We have Gold Plan...zero co insurance $50.00 deductible.
I guess the coin durance and deductible make a big difference.
Yes but for financial situation, I can't afford co insurance.....with our low deductible, I almost always can submit a claim....which is helpful, also with me being in the hospital so much we always use the full$500.00 coverage for dog care...even if it is someone I know watching him, they still pay..which alone covers the years premium ..

If I had reserves I would just have insurance for big things but it comes in handy when we GP to the vet for an ear infection and it cost $75.00 I get money back and his follow ups are all covered.

I take full advantage of the policy as well since Jack is on cortisol replacement ..we get a full panel of blood work ever six months and as he ages, I will do even more....

Mine should be coming any day now.  I have actually done some of the requesting quotes for older dogs and didn't find it too frightening.

Good to know.
I am,not looking ...but glad to hear it..no matter the price..we will always keep the plan..
Good to know! I should have shopped around more! With Trupanion, for a one year old with a $500 deductible, 10% coinsurance, and no limit, I pay $372 a year. Unless Oliver develops a very expensive medical condition, PetPlan seems like a better option.
Make sure you compare apples to apples. My copayment is 20%.
Good point! It does seem that PetPlan covers hip dysplasia in it's standard benefits. That's pretty cool since Trupanion charges an additional premium (about $125 a year) for hip dysplasia coverage. Which, after reading all of the stories on DK, I think might be a good idea to purchase.
