I am, in part, venting and also wondering what others are experiencing with PetPlan renewals.
In 2011 my policy for Camus was $171.50, in 2012 it went to $249.90 and the renewal letter for 2013 indicates it will be $326.92. That amounts to a 90% increase over the 2011 policy, which I think is outrageous. I have not filed a claim for ~ a year and they do not cover his allergies because his vet made a notation in his chart before I signed up with PetPlan that he thought his first ear infection might be due to allergies. I sent an email to them indicating that unless the policy is renewed at a reasonable rate I am going to cancel coverage.
Is anyone else experiencing similar policy increases?

I'm guessing that your employer pays the bulk of your health insurance premiums. I pay for my own, and it costs $758/month, and that's with a $2500 deductible. Granted, yours is probably much cheaper, but it's still not $34/month total. That sounds like a wonderful benefit, especially since it's very good insurance.
Sadly, just like me, dogs don't have employers to pick up part of the cost, and they don't qualify for group policies. :)
We have PetPlan for all three of our doodles and are very pleased. Our increases have been on average 20%
One thing I do want to highlight though is that you do need to have your invoice from your vet for the services rendered (be it a surgery or emergency visit) paid in full and reflect a zero balance before they will process your claim. So that having been said it's a great idea to have a fund of sorts put away for emergencies as someone suggested. Our Gaston had to have emergency surgery and it was well over $3k and had to be paid in full before they would review it. Ouch.
Our experience has been they are super quick (average 10 days) in paying claims once they are submitted and approved.
