Has anyone used or knows someone that has used them for boarding? We're going to be visiting my Mom in Pittsburgh next month and need to board Gus and Lily for a couple nights. We usually would use one in our area, but I hate having to pay for an extra nights since we will be leaving to early (before they would open)to drop them off and getting back to late Sunday to pick them up. The Petmart place seems nice and is priced the same. They also have staff on site over night.

We use them all the time when we have to leave for a night or 2 for Peter's work.  They really take good care of Buddy while he is there.  You can do individual play time or group playtime (extra cost of course).  The last time we went ahead and had Buddy in the all day group playtime.  That way when he was taken back to his "room" he was good and tired. There is someone watching them all the time and also cleaning the area as soon as needed.  He is always so excited to go to Petsmart (that is where we go for training and the hotel), so whenever we get there is is pulling the leash to get inside and goes left right away toward the hotel (that is where training is also).  You can certainly always call them and talk to someone about how your "kids" will be treated etc.  You can also bring a toy or something for them to sleep on that is their own (just have to put your name on it), you can bring your own food and tell them when you need them fed etc.  We have done this also since we feed Orijen and don't want Buddy to have a reaction to new food and we also took his crate bed for home the last time (but they use them as well, so we had to put our name on it).  I have seen people bring a bunch of toys and a dog bed before.  They are very accomidating.  The forms to fill out can be found on their website.
Thanks Melissa. I talked to them this morning and just wanted to get opinions on them. It does sound nice and the price is equal to where we usually use here in Maryland. I also like the idea that they will still be in the area we are in case of and emergency.
I have been looking for places that have staff on site over night.  I can't find it near me!  Do they have webcams where you can watch them?  I always like to check in on Allie when she is away!
I don't think they have webcams...but maybe each location is different.  I know they have "suites" with TVs in them. :)

Don't know about the webcam, but they do have a "Bone Booth". I had to laugh when I read that. You can call during regular hours and they'll bring your pet to the phone if you want to chat. That's a bit over the top, but I guess someone wanted to or they wouln't offer it.

LOL "Bone Booth."  That's hilarious!!!!

I was in California from Wednesday thru Sunday.  I actually called to talk to Rua (I can text my DH)!  LOL

We have used their daycare, which we loved and Darwin did as well. We've never used the boarding though. Most places I have looked at include daycare in the price of boarding. Meaning, if you board your dog overnight, they will get to play with the daycare dogs. Petsmart (at least mine) does not. Unless you pay an extra 20 dollars for daycare ON TOP of the boarding price, they sit in their kennels all day. I really dislike that. It's more cost effective to go basically anywhere else because of this. We take Darwin to a place that charges 30 dollars a night, and that price includes a day of daycare on the day you bring them in, as well as the day you pick them up. It would be something like 50 to do it at Petsmart.
Joe, I think it depends on the location.  We had Penny stay at a Petsmart hotel about a year ago, just for one night.  Now, she's been boarded in situations almost her entire life and had no problem.  When she got out of Petsmart, she was TRAUMATIZED.  To this day, I don't know what happened, but many folks I know in the area (Scottsdale) have said the same thing.  If there's any way you can find folks who've used your facility, it might be good to get some opinions.  Good luck!
I'm hoping some of the DK members in the Pittsburgh area might have some insite on this particular one.
We used Petsmart "Pet Hotel" in Greenville, SC 2 years ago and were happy. We have not heard anything bad about them. We would use them again but found a place that has a good sized area for the dogs to play outside. We are boarding our doodles there next week for 5 days so hope it will be a good experience for them. We only board them if we can't take them traveling with us.

I never have boarded Rua...in fact, last Wednesday night thru Saturday night was the first time we spent apart overnight.  I did use Camp Bow Wow for a previous dog before.  She stunk to high heaven when I picked her up.  I'd ask them for references!
