I certainly am not surprised...Though I guess Id rather they not become that popular

Popularity has never benefited any dog breed or mix; to the contrary, it has greatly harmed many of them. It's no accident that the rarest breeds are also those with the fewest genetic health issues.
Very cool, since I have Three Goldendoodles...
We're #1! haha :) Are you imagining that big foam finger like I am?
I agree with you though, Karen. Hopefully we don't see a flood of bad breeding going on to make more doodles now.
The good news is that when we go for walks, people will know what our dogs are???? The bad news is that puppy mills will breed even more of them.
They are not ranked by overall popularity, it's how much they have risen in popularity. In the ten year period from 2002 to 2012, Cane Corsos went from #143 to #73, the 4th greatest rise in overall numbers.
Similarly, Goldendoodles are NOT the #1 most popular breed or mix. They are #31 overall. But in 2002, they were the 159th most popular. So they are ranked first because they went up 128 positions in the overall rankings.
Still, probably not a positive sign: more puppy mills and irresponsible breeders, I fear.
Not a positive thing at all.
Thanks for clarifying Karen. Im glad they are not #1. 31 is pretty high. I hope they dont become more popular.
I only hope that people purchase dogs with good understanding for the breed and prepare themselves for what thy are getting into.
Absolutely Kyoko!
