I just order some BEEFEATERS RAWHIDE PIGGY ROPE KNOT BONES 5" and my D.G. loves them... I think I almost like them better than Bully bones. Has anyone else tried them? I think their new. Kathy & Lauscha

I am willing to bet that if you read the package information carefully, you'll see that this product is made overseas, most likely in China or possibly South America. A lot of us try to avoid products that are not made in North America, and rawhide itself can be dangerous, even if it's made in the U.S., for several reasons, including obstructions. We have a lot of discussions about safe chew products, rawhide alternatives, etc. in the Food Group.
Just looked them up. You got it in one--China.
I hope not. I got mine from National Pet Pharmacy http://www.nationalpetpharmacy.com/search/BEEFEATERS-RAWHIDE-PIGGY-...
Kathy, it doesn't matter which distributor you purchased it from. The product itself comes from China, whether you buy it on-line, from Petsmart, from Walmart, or wherever. It's made in China, and therefore I would avoid giving it to my dog.
I hate rawhide, it upsets Coopers tummy like crazy and it isnt safe (not digestible). However, the pig hide twist sticks dont, they seem to be much more digestible and arent soaked in formaldehyde like traditional (beef) rawhide. They are Coopers favourite! She carries them round with her for weeks before she finally chews and eats them!
I hate rawhide to... Your right the piggy hides brake up more and are easier to digest.. I started out getting the piggy sticks but this time around I couldn't find them so I purchased the braided ones. I think their the newest/neatest treat out on the market now. Kathy & Lauscha
There are similar products available that are made in the U.S. A.
I ONLY use Elk Antlers....I have heard nightmares from all rawhide products and do not allow any for our Doodles.

There are ones that are made in the USA - try your local pet store (not petsmart).

Just be super careful....the made in China thing always scares me because my chihuahua ate chicken jerky tendons that even said "Made in the USA", but at closer look they imported from China.

I am not trying to knock your newfound treat, but I will just say that those tendons from China made Taquito lose 2 pounds (that would be like a normal-size human losing 50 pounds) and he barely survived. They were tainted with menadione during the 2007 recalls.

He survived, but he has permanent kidney damage and will likely not live the normal chihuahua lifespan.

I will get off my soap box now!

Often, the label will give the company's address, and since it's an address in the U.S., people assume that the product is made here. But it is very common for American companies to import their ingredients from other countries, or contract with companies overseas to make the product, and then the American company simply packages and sells it.
OMG don't worry about the soap box... I'm so happy we all know about this and are learning. I will be throwing out the piggys I just purchased on the Internet.  The ones I first purchased were from a local pet spa daycare type store here in town. They were MADE IN USA.... Thanks everyone for the info.. Kathy & Lauscha
Echo loves, Loves, LOVES!!!! Himalayan Dog Chews! I wish they would last a long time with him but he knows how to go through them. They are a really good high end dog chew alternative to the bully stick.
