PLEASE HELP

Bailey is terrified my family and I can't understand why. He shivers so much and he's really restless and panicked.
We think it might be something with our house, because he is so desperate to get out of here. But on the other hand he's lived here with us for years, why would he suddenly get so scared of being here? We can't think of any things we've installed in the house recently. We've been trying to hear any possible noises around the house, but we can't hear anything out of the ordinary. Also we tried to shut all electricity off, but he was still so scared. My dad has taken him to grandma's now, because apparently he feels safer there. And no, no one's been cruel to him.
These are times you really wish he could speak so he could tell us what's bothering him.

Please help, we're so worried about him!

I've never heard of this before. When he is at your grandmother's house, is he okay there?

Bailey is six years old. It isn't like him to behave like this, when he was at home he was constantly pacing back and forth, panting and trembling. We also went into our "guesthouse", which is a separate building. The guesthouse was a little bit better than the house we live in. He was still really restless and he was panting a lot, but the trembling stopped. When we went outside or to grandma's he started acting normally quite fast. We also took grandma's dog Castor with us home to see if he would react the same way. But Castor was acting normal, whilst Bailey was still really stressed. I don't actually know if he was scared or just really stressed out, but either way we're still worried about him.

How long has this been going on?  I think it will be really important to see if it stops when he's at your Grandma's house.  Those symptoms could indicate and illness, especially if they came on suddenly.  You indicate that he's desperate to get out....I would be careful right now and keep him leashed.

It started last night, and since then it's been coming and going. Earlier this evening, around dinner, he was his usual self. Then he got really nervous, like he was last night and at some point today too. He starts acting normal when he's at grandma's and outside. Thanks for the advice, I'll keep it in mind.

That is strange. Is it possible there's something battery operated that may be emitting a high frequency that you can't hear, but Bailey can? Hope you get to the bottom of the problem real soon.

We suspected that the smoke detectors could have something to do with it, but we got the batteries out and it didn't have any impact on Bailey. We can't think of anything else that's battery operated and could bother Bailey. But thank you for the advice.

Well, lots of things you might consider.  My neighbors (hearing aids) and my dogs really reacted to the gopher repellents (high frequency battery), and my neighbor has a resident who refuses to leave the house (although he has been dead for years).  So, people may think I am nuts, but I believe that spirits can remain in a house.  He may be reacting to something like that.  If he wants out of the house, please allow him to be elsewhere.  He may have sensitivities to something nobody else knows about.

Thanks for taking your time to write the comment. We've already thought about the high frequency batteries and I don't really believe in spirits, although I respect the fact that you do. And don't worry about Bailey, we want what's best for him so he's spending the night at grandma's place with her and her dog Castor. Once he got there he calmed down and seemed to feel safe. So he's okay now, we just want to know what was eating on him.

I'm glad that his symptoms have disappeared now that he's at your grandma's....I was concerned that this reaction was related to pain or illness, but if that were the case he wouldn't be fine in a new location.  When you bring him back home, try having him enter room by room.   Spend a little time in each room observing him before going into the next room.  That may help you to determine what is bothering him.

That's a great idea, but we've already tried that and I'm afraid we couldn't make any conclusions out of it. He followed us into every room of the house, but it was clear that he would much rather be outside. There wasn't any part of the house that could calm him.
