This is new. Yarrow, who has been 100% house broken for the past couple of months has relapsed. Normally she whines, maybe even pants, looks at the door then back at me, I get the leash and into the yard we go. But I guess it's because the normal schedule of long hikes with the occasional sprint has been absent for nearly a week, she's getting more and more antsy.
She's had 3 accidents and one close call since last night. A friend with Airedales told me that she seems to remember her last spayed girl also having a relapse in the potty department.
Pretty normal?

Could it be a UTI?
Oh, I hope not. Her urine is nice and clear in the snow.
She is drinking a lot more water than usual but I think that's because she's panting more due to being stuck in the house instead of running and playing outside. She loves the cold but with her incision still healing I can't let her hang out in the snow banks which she loves. I don't want her shaved naked belly in the snow.
I've gone back to what I had to do when she was 8 weeks old. I can't let her out of my sight and I quickly throw on my boots and jacket as soon as she wakes from a nap.
I think you are doing the right thing. Keep in mind that she just had surgery. I know dogs heal fast and it is hard to keep them down.....but I would be taking her out on a leash every hour or so ...just to potty.
A call to her vet wouldn't hurt. Hope she gets back to normal soon!! She sure is cute!
I have not experienced this, but I think I would call and ask the vet is this is normal. I hope so.
I've just been looking online myself to find out what I can. I've found a few instances of people reporting frequent peeing and accidents a little while after the surgery and lasting only a week or two. I'll call the vet tomorrow anyway and see what she thinks. I still think (hope) it's due to Yarrow's stress level being tied down when all she wants to do is run 'til she drops.
Post spay incontinence is a terrible side effect I also found. But I don't think that's it because one of the accidents was a poo.
I've had two that got UTI's as a result of their spay. It was normally noticeable right away though.
Is Yarrow on an antibiotic? I am not sure it is the same thing but the only thing that has changed recently is that Cally is on an antibiotic and her output has definitely increased! She use to poop three times a day and now she will go poop every time she goes out, for the most part! Yesterday she went poop SIX times! She has not had accidents in the house but I think it has something to do with the medicine. I did not think much of it because Cally is on a good probiotic thanks to F and Karen and she has yogurt so I was not to worried but I was also wondering about it but I narrowed it down to her medicine she is on.
I called the vet clinic the day after her surgery to find out if they gave her a dose of antibiotic. Nope. But she does get probiotics on her breakfast every day. Her last accident was before noon today. Since then I haven't let her out of my sight and I've been really vigilant about getting her out the door every time and as soon as my spidey sense starts tingling.
"Spidey Sense"...I love it! I know exactly what you mean! :>)
I'm sorry Deb, hopefully it all gets worked out soon, and poor Yarrow can be out running and playing again.
Charlie had relapse after the spay for a little. I don't remember exactly how long it lasted nor how often she had accident ( She is now 5 years old) but she did for short period of the time. I want to say just a week or so during the healing process. he went back to normal pretty soon, and it did not cause any issues. But if it seems too often / lasting too long, I would consult the vet.
