Well, July 17th is the date for Lucy's surgery (Dr. was on vacation 1st two weeks of July). DH and I have decided that since she will be laid up for so long that it might be hard to keep her combed out so we should probably cut her down quite a bit before the surgery. So yesterday I took the first step and gave her a haircut. I took her shorter than I've taken her before, but think that I might even take her a little shorter yet before her surgery. A little nervous about that, but I'm sure it will be best for her.

She looks beautiful.
Love Lucy's haircut...this seems like a great length
Lucy looks wonderful and she'll be much more comfortable without grooming for a while after the surgery.
This morning Sophie got her Lucy pre-surgery haircut as well! Two groomed dogs, saved $150 ... self grooming is so worth it!
She looks awesome! I love your big yard too!
Lucy looks beautiful (as usual) and I hope all goes well with the surgery and recovery. Now that I took the plunge a couple months ago and shaved my guys down I'm no longer afraid! LOL In fact, I scalped Sheba yesterday as she keeps finding smelly stuff (poop) to roll in and it would get embedded in her fur and I couldn't get the smell out. Ugh!!! I'm glad Duke is prissy and doesn't roll in the stuff. : ) They were shaved down just after we were with you at the Reds Game and I am amazed how fast their fur grew. So, I say, don't be nervous and go for it!!
Here's a photo of Sheba and Duke from yesterday. Duke was in the pond so his fur is messy. : )
They were both shaved down to the length Sheba is now on April 25th. You can see how much Duke's fur has grown since then and Sheba's was the same length before her shave down yesterday. Do I miss my curly haired girl? Sure I do. It is a pretty extreme cut but it's much easier to manage for the summer with the pond. She'll look like a doodle again in the winter. I doubt you want to go that short though. If we still lived at the old house I would have never cut her this short but she loves it!
Hey Ann, good to see you. But I don't think these are really Sheba and Duke : )
Thanks F. Yep, it's them. : ) lol
Wow, Sheba doesn't even look like the same dog. Duke still has that "Duke" look, just shorter. If mine had a pond like this I would have to keep them short as well, but fortunately all they have is the yard and that gets them in enough trouble. That pond is beautiful. What do you guys do to keep it so clean? My folks have one and have a terrible time keeping the gunk out of it!
