McDonald had promised to work with suppliers to phase out the use of gestation crates for pregnant pigs in factory farming.

Along with the use of enriched cages for the egg producing hens, it seems that humane society is reaching out and really starting to make a difference in the treatment of farm animals.

I am so happy to see this, and very hopeful that puppy mills too can be banned soon.

I also realize that it is crucial that we raise our concerns instead of feeling " it is what it is..."

Happy Valentine's day!!

This is interesting Kyoko. This was included in the post from Change.org I posted below.

I so agree...we're only powerless if we FEEL powerless.  Thanks for sharing.

I heard recently that the owners of the puppy mill in Quebec, Paws r us, which had 500 dogs seized from it a few months ago as the biggest puppy mill seizure in NA history (or maybe just Canada), is now applying for a permit to begin operating again. This is a prime example of opportunity to take action and speak up. I believe there is a massive protest being organized. I plan to look into it this week-end and determine how I can get involved. You have all inspired me with these power to the people posts!

I am still hearing about the dogs that were rescued in this bust that are still in rescues and in need of continued support. I can't see how they would get a license again while we as tax payers are still paying to care for the animals that were taken from them? Quebec has the worst laws in Canada when it comes to this.
