Puppy Coat Type Prediction

Hi all,

I am new to site, and was wondering if I could get peoples advice on 2 questions, :

1. At what age can you predict the type of coat a puppy will have?
2. For the 2 puppies below (Green and Yellow at age 6 wks), what type of coat would you say they will have [e.g. hair (flat or straight), fleece (wavy or curly) or  wool (spiral or sprung]?

I'd say wavy fleece for the first and somewhat curlier fleece for the second but just guessing. Cute pups.

I thought the exact same thing, they both seem fleecey to me, but that is also a guess.  The first will definitely be wavy and the second will most likely have tighter curls.  My pup Bailey looked alot like the first pup and she has gotten prob 50% more curly... but when her hair is long she still looks like a wavy teddy bear.

Thanks, does Bailey shed and what does he look like now (with age)?

No she does not shed, however she is only 9 months and could still go through a coat change (I am doubting she will shed as she has not yet, but who knows)... With that being said it is difficult to tell whether or not they will shed, even with curls.  Her sister was much curlier then her and was shedding a ton (again could be puppy coat).  Curlier is safer if you are really worried about shedding, but still not a forsure thing that they will not! I posted a blog with some pictures http://www.doodlekisses.com/profiles/blogs/my-first-trip-to-the-beach .. she is wet in most pictures which makes her curlier.

I'm not an expert either, but I would agree with the other posters. They both look like fleece, but the second looks like he will have more curl. Hudson got more curl with age and he doesn't shed. You might want to check out the "From Pup to Adult" group and look at other photos of puppies as they grew up.
