Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Dante went to the vet today. he is 10 weeks old F1b and weighs 15.2 lbs. He was 10.5 lbs when he came home 2 weeks ago. He is predicted to be a medium goldendoodle, 40-50 lbs. I would suspect he might be bit bigger than that.
Anyone remember what your pup weighed about the same age, and how much do they weigh now?

My boy was 17 lbs at 10 weeks. He topped out at 70 lbs and is super thin and tall. He is big even for a standard labradoodle. He has the poodle body through and through... I think a lot of it depends on the body type. He has a brother that is the same height, but took more of the labrador body and is 90 lbs. Orwell and his brother are F2bs (5/8 poodle, 3/8 lab).
I think the general guesstimate is double their weight at 16 or so weeks and you will have a pretty good idea.
Mine are full sized but I think it is the same for smaller doodles.
This puts Gunnar firmly in the 65-70 pound range and his brother Tank at the 75+ pound range.
In another 6 weeks you should be able to get a good idea.
Gemma almost 5 months now was 13.2 lbs at 10 weeks, she is now 34 and predicted to be around 60.
This won't be useful to any of you posting here, but for anybody who has a Toy Doodle in the future: Teddy was 3.5 lbs. @ 8 weeks......5 lbs. @ 11 weeks.......7 lbs. @ 14 weeks.
So he was probably about 4.5 lbs. @ 10 weeks. LOL
The formula that has been mostly true for all but toy sized puppies is the weight at 16 weeks x 2, +/- 5 -10 pds. For my two they were 26 and 28 pds at 16 weeks and at full grown, they have remained at 60-64 pds their whole lives. They are 6 and 1/2 and 8 yrs old. Its only through our over feeding, (DH thinks they are always hungry :( ) that one has ever topped 70 pds and the Vet and I felt it was too much for him.
Being as Dante will probably gain another 10 pds, easily, by 16 weeks, this would put him on the 50 pd side. ( +/- 5 -10pds)
This formula has worked for more of us than not. And I'd certainly use your breeders guesstimate as a factor as most breeders know what to expect, generally.
Let us know in 16 weeks what the results are?
