Annabelle reacted the same way with her first set of puppy shots. The second set she had no reaction. The third set of shots she had was rabies and bordetella, no reaction. Then the 3rd set of her puppy combo shots, she had a bad reaction and was in pain for 2 days. She actually blamed me for her pain and wanted nothing to do with me, the one who took her, only my husband who had no part of it. So for 2 days she did nothing but growl at me or try to bite me anytime I came near her. I guess her memory works just fine. Luckily she got over it and is fine now. The vet said sometimes the 3rd set of puppy shots they will have a worse reaction because they have more of it in their system. As for the rabies she was fine.
I know that my late yellow lab was fine with it... a little lethargic as she was with all shots, but she still acted 90% normal I would say. Have you talked to your vet about her reactions to the general shots? I would.
Orwell's reaction to his shots was the same as my yellow lab, so I expect his rabies will go smoothly. Though, he will be lethargic because he's getting neutered at the same time. :P
Both of my doodles had reactions to Rabies shots- total of 5 between the two. Compared to other vaccinations, the reactions were strong. Clearly my dogs were sick. So much so, that the last time I had enough and began trying to figure out why.
Some reaction is very normal but what I found out was that there are at least three versions of Rabies vaccines manufactured by different companies and it was suggested that if the dog did not do well with one type, try to get another version of the product when the next shot is due. I will never go without, of course, but I certainly do not take that time lightly any longer.
Hope your do is recovering and doing fine now
