Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

We are going to have to find a new home for our 7 year old Aussie-doodle. I'm not sure if this is the best way to get the word out there? We live in Florida.  Her picture is below. I've never been on the discussion page so I'm not sure if it's ok to post this. We just want her to have a special home where doodles are understood and loved. I'm also not sure how to put my contact information out there. Snickers2017.JPG

Please contact a reputable rescue organization to let them help you re-home your dog. They thoroughly screen applicants and check references and the home to ensure safety.   Be honest about the reason you can't keep her, her strengths and weaknesses, her health.  This way a proper adopter can be found.

Here is a link to the Doodle Rescue Collective.  It is a nation-wide rescue organization that I volunteer with.

And their re-home application:  http://doodlerescue.org/page/rehome-assistance-form

Thank You everyone. I am aware of the Aussie Rescue and Doodle Rescues out there. That may be the way we go. I'm not in any hurry and wanted to screen applicants myself. There's really no reason for her to go to a Foster Home etc. She's fine and safe here. I just thought the doodle site might open a door for her.

The problem that as a 'lay' person, you don't have access to the same number of applicants or perhaps the savvy to not be fooled by people's lies.  This is NOT a slap to the wrist for you.  I do some screening and I can't believe what some people say vs their real status, yet think I won't check up.    Right now , my kids are fostering a little terrier mix and, even with my experience, we can't reach out to enough people to find this sweet boy a good home.  Some rescues are open to the dog staying with with the owner who also helps select a new adopter.  Sometimes this doesn't work well as the rescue organization needs to understand the dogs true personality/needs etc to find the right home.

I suggest that you reach out to a rescue just to get some help - perhaps they have some suggestions that might help you keep your Aussie doodle.

Thank You again. You are 100% right. I have been involved with rescues etc my entire life. We may go that route. just not there yet. I also know someone who may be interested in the little terrier you are fostering. Where can she see his information?

We are in Southern California.  Darn!

I second Nancy's recommendation. DRC has some wonderful fosters in Florida who are very experienced at finding the right homes for doodles.

First of all, I am so sorry you are having to rehome your sweet doodle.  Please consider letting the DRC help you rehome Snickers, so she only has to go through adoption once and will be placed in her forever home.  You certainly do not want to land in a home that doesn't realize how much coat care is involved in owning a doodle.  Good luck to you and Snickers.

What area are you Jax? I am also in Jacksonville and would be glad to come get her. I volunteer for DRC and we can find her a wonderful home if you will allow that!
