Hi all!

I hope I'm not sounding like a nag, I really don't mean too. I just wanted to remind everyone that some holiday plants (poinsettias) can be very toxic and dangerous to our furry friends. I'm sure there are many other plants and decorations out this time of year, but please be careful! The boys got their yearly heart worm tests at the vet and a little puppy was being rushed to the ER part of the vet because he had eaten half of a poinsettia, the family didn't know they were dangerous. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!

Happy Holidays!

This is a good reminder.

Also, DK has a Danger Group, where there are lists of many of the things that may be toxic or pose a hazard to dogs, arranged by category, including toxic plants. There's even an article specific to poinsettias and other Christmas plants; holly is another one that's extremely toxic to dogs: http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/395

Pointsettias are noxious to dogs but not as bad as many other plants they can ingest. the danger group does have lots of info. Things like tinsel can also be a problem as well as many other holiday hazards.

Thanks, it's always good to have a reminder. We have many things on our minds this time of the year and it's easy to let something slip- we want to keep our babies safe!

Jessica ~ always good to remind at this time of year.  I was visiting a friend the other day and she was feeding her cockapoo raisins (one after another)! I asked her if she knew they were toxic and she was shocked.  I thought most dog owners were aware of the toxic things, but that is not always the case.

Thanks for posting to remind us to be careful about plants and our beloved pets.
