o.k., so my daughter's standard poodle had to go to the vet this morning due to throwing up bile. Tests were done and they found he has renal failure. Has to go in tomorrow morning for dialysis. Question is, has
any dog owner here gone through this, I know there have been a lot
of health issues, and was hoping for advice.

Sally, I have no advice, but wanted to add I am very sorry this happened to your daughter's dog. I hope he improves and feels better.
Thank you, Laurie, we are hoping our vets can help. He is being admitted tomorrow morning for 3 to 4 days and we
really don't know what to expect.
I'm so sorry Sally. I have only experience with people in dialysis...I would imagine it's both easier and harder for dogs.
I also have no experience with this in dogs, but I'm very sorry to hear this. I hope the treatment helps him.
Sally, I'm really sorry to hear this. Do they know the specific cause of the kidney failure? Sending positive thoughts and prayers for your family.
I am sorry to hear this. Is this just an interim measure or is the kidney failure chronic? I am not sure I would have my doodles undergo long term dialysis.
Thanks everyone, any and all comments are tremendously appreciated. We do not yet know if this is temporary or
long term, and possibly won't know for several days. He has been on Denamarin to treat a problem for a couple of months now. He is looking very weak and we may be going right now to the vet.
Sally, I am so sorry for your daughter and her dog. I hope there are treatments help him.
I am so sorry, I have no experience with this but I was wondering if he could possibly have eaten something that would cause a temporary renal failure or maybe he has Addison's disease that was left untreated... Those were my two thoughts.
I am praying it is just a temporary thing and that what ever it was/is that caused the kidney's to fail is quickly resolved.
Update, Elliott is currently at the veterinary hospital. He is getting an IV for fluids and we should hopefully know more tomorrow. Thank you all for your kind words and good wishes.
Please keep us updated. I really hope he improves dramatically and this is from something he can be treated for.
Addissons disease is comon in Poodle breeds and not all Vets can properly diagnose it. We almost lost our Lexi a year ago do to a mis diagnosis and rushed her to a specialist who knew after a blood test exactly what she had going on. We give her a small prednosone pill daily and a Percorten injection every 25 days and she is just fine. Doctor said she will lead a normal life . She is an incredible loving plaful Doodle again.
Make sure a Qualified internest does the exam. Most Vets do not know how to treat and diagnose.
