Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi All,

My application for an F1B goldendoodle has been accepted by BestGoldendoodles.com, a breeder out of South Carolina. They sound legit and responsible but so many do until they don't ;)

I would appreciate any feedback before I send in the deposit.

Thanks!

There is not one word on their website about genetic health testing of the parents. Above everything else, that is the single most important factor. All that talk of "Hybrid vigor" is nonsense. It doesn't matter that there are two different breeds involved, the same genetic diseases run in both of those parent breeds, so the diseases can be passed on to puppies the same as in purebreds. You MUST see proof of testing for genetic diseases on both parents. That means hips, elbows, eyes, heart, and von Willebrand's.

If you have not already done so, please read the guidelines of what to look for in a breeder and take them to heart: http://www.doodlekisses.com/notes/What_To_Look_for_In_a_Breeder

I agree with Karen here.  I think it is ok to say this here because it is right on their website, but they do not require a signed contract.  That leads me to believe that there is no health warranty either.  Also, please make sure you understand that just because they say "nonshedding", there are no guarantees even with an F1B Goldendoodle.

Thank You both! You are absolutely correct, nothing about specific tests or proof of health, just a lot of talk about having healthy champion dogs...blah, blah, blah. Even though I have read over and over again about what to look for in a breeder, I still got sucked in by the well designed and very well written website. So glad I found this board, because I need someone to slap my "puppy goggles" off of my face so I can see clearly!

I just sent you a friend request with a message that includes a local breeder recommendation.

"We are not dog breeders" -- marketing speak.  If you purposely bought dogs for the purpose of breeding and you have a website and sell pups...um...dog breeder.

Lol! I can't stand when people make that claim! Glad someone else shares this opinion :)

Hello!  We are purchasing our third doodle from the same breeder in 7 years.  Our puppy was born a week ago Sunday and is an F2 Goldendoodle.  I posted a picture of her on here last night at 1 week old.  If you like I sent you a friend request and I will be able to give you the breeders name and her website.  She does a 2 yr health guarantee and first shots, worming ect.  She goes to great lengths to breed dogs that are going to work well together to get a good litter of pups.  The two we have gotten from her previously are great, smart, excellent w kids, I could just go on and on.  Please look at my page on here and you will be able to see their pictures along w our new little puppy we will be getting.  As far as her pricing goes she is very, very reasonable.  I know as of Sunday she had 2 chocolate pups and 4 black pups left.  They will be ready in 7 weeks.  She also starts their crate training.  She has a very good description on her web page on how she picks the parents and all that goes into her breeding program.

Hi -- Just went to your page and then on to your breeders page.  Just curious, just from a quick review of some of the pictures, it appears that this breeder docks the tails.  Just curious as to why?

I don't see that, all the pics I see show puppies with tails, some pics the puppies have very curly tails and if the angle is off it looks like they dont' have tails. I'm not going with that breeder though.

Sharon use to dock the tails because of them being inside and knocking things. She no longer docks the tails. We did have lilly's docked because our other 2 are docked and my husband dodnt want them to see lilly and wonder why she had a tail and they didn't :) I guess it is personal preference kinda like a doberman you can crop the ears or leave them floppy. The rest of the pups in lilly's litter have their tails she did do dew claws and first shots so far:)

Ooops, when I read that message about tails, I thought it was referring to the Goldendoodle breeder I had posted about.  I'm not too good at navigating the board. Thank you for the breeder info. The prices are great, it is just so far away and I'm leary about having a puppy shipped. Did you have your's shipped?
