Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Tomorrow we will be on the road at about 6:15 a.m. in order to arrive at Rooney's first Doodle Day at one of his breeders home.  I'm so excited for him because this will be his first time seeing "Breeder" since we brought him home at 11.5 weeks.  Rooney will be 6 months on the 17th.  I can't wait to see if he will remember Leslie or his daddy, Connor.  I do not think Rooney's mom will get to come.  There will be lots of Doodles for him to meet and play with, maybe a litter mate and lots of prospective clients checking out the breeder and dogs.  I think their list of people wanting a Parti colored puppy is going to get longer after they see my baby ;)

I will admit that I am a tiny bit nervous - I want Rooney's breeders to think that I am doing a good job with him so I do hope that he remembers to mind his manners.  Rooney was groomed on Wednesday but it is raining here so I'm trying to keep him from getting too gross before tomorrow.  I'll have stories to share - I'm sure.

Oh did my boy have a WONDERFUL day!  He saw "Breeder" but he didn't remember her.  I think I've loved him up good for that to happen ;)   He saw his dad - and I do think they sensed something familiar but then he saw Dublin - his brother from another mother and they spent all their time together.  Dublin was born less than 2 weeks after Rooney's litter but Dublin was an only puppy.  So to make sure that he grew up being socialized, he spent tons of time with Rooney's litter - an adopted brother.  And Dublin and Rooney's moms would feed each others pup(s).  They knew that they were brothers and they played and roughed around having the best of times.  I loved seeing all of these beautiful doodles, I hope to go again!!!!  The "boys".  (Dublin is 31lbs/Rooney 17)

HOW EXCITING! Have fun!
Have a GREAT day, Rooney.  You are such a cutie, lines will form to get pups like you!

Hi Jane,

It sounds like Rooney came from a breeder that I know very well :-)  Please tell Leslie that Laurie and Wally say, hi!  We stopped by her house for a visit on our way down to Naples last month.  I'm sure that you and Rooney will have lots of fun tomorrow.

Best, Laurie

Have fun little Rooney.  I think you will just shine around all the other Doodles.  We have never even met you and we all love you and think you absolutely the cutest little guy ever!!!
I love the story of Dublin and Rooney!  So cute that they saw each other and instantly remembered.  Warms your heart to see.  We met a Dublin today who was a 1 yr. old intact Lab who fell in love with Gracie Doodle at first sight.  Problem was he had absolutely no manners and tried over and over to have his way with my Gracie!!!  She let him know with growls and lunges at him but he just wouldn't get the hint.  Geez, he had a prong collar on as well as an e-collar and that told the entire story.  He was a very strong willed dog and the owner couldn't even hold on to his leash.  Never used the shocker though???  I can't figure that one out.  Anyway, Gracie really let Dublin know he was not going to get anywhere with her!!!
Nancie - the Dublin & Rooney story is cute but I was really suprised that they still KNEW each other - out of 20 some dogs those two connected and stayed together the entire time we were there.  And my little Rooney was giving as good as he was getting with his much larger BFAM (Brother from another Mother).  Now you have to explain the birds and bees to Gracie.  Tell her any boy dog may find her ultra attractive - hey she is beautiful - what can she do?  It is always good to put them in their place if they get frisky.  Good girl.  Doesn't sound like the owner was the one in control!
Hi Jane...no, the owner of Dublin the Lab was not in control.  She couldn't even hold him on his leash!  I can just picture Little Rooney and Little Dublin looking at each other from across the yard and then the slow motion music starts!  The leap towards each other and embrace in the middle of the yard and start rolling in shear joy!  Does Dublin live anywhere near you where you can meet up and have them continue their bond?  It would be fun if they could!  Next time take a video of them rushing towards each other...very cute!
Rooney, it sure sounds like you had fun on your first Doodle Day.  I am so glad you are feeling better and wish we could have gotten to see each other when I was in Florida.  My Momma said she really liked getting to meet your Momma and hopes that I stay small enough so I can fly out that way again.  Love, your girlfriend, Rua!  p.s.  I loved the presents you sent me.
Rua - I am sorry that I had the sniffles - I love you too.  Glad you like the gifts - you are my Valentine!  xoxo Rooney
