I don't even know how to word this to make sense, but hopefully other male doodle owners will get it. Bennett is almost 8 months and has a fairly short (about 1.5 inch) coat. I love the look, but we are struggling with keeping his belly/inner legs clean. After using the bathroom and then laying down, I guess pee wets his inner legs and belly and makes it crunchy and mats.

How do other doodle owners keep this area dry and crunchy free? It's so frustrating and just plain gross!

I use a clipper and do a "sanitary shave". I shave the lower belly area by the boy bits. Though, I do this for my lady schnauzers, too. ;-) I also trim the area just under the tail to keep that clear. This keeps things pretty tidy.

I shave the belly, around the boy parts and backside with a clipper. Very short, to the skin actually. Clip around the boy part and the inside of the legs with scissors however as its hard to clip that soft hair on the insides of the legs on mine, and of course the boy part is too sensitive to use a clipper on.

You can also use a wet one when he comes in and wipe the area yourself. But I just wouldnt always do that so short clipped hair is the way to go

Some dogs have more difficulty with 'aim' than others.  You are still going to want to do the trim, but as he matures this might become less of a problem.

Luca does not have this problem but his fur in those areas mats easily so I keep it short. He primarily squats to urinate.
