Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi Everyone,
I wasn't sure where to post this and have been searching since Monday if there is anything like this on DK and google but can't seem to find anything. I'm really not sure if its a grooming issue, health issue, training, and can't seem to quite place my finger on what it is.

Our mobile groomer came on Saturday and Zoe and Bender got groomed. Bender had to get shaved because his fur was really matted at the roots. I was so sad because I spend so much time brushing him and yet he was matted. Well he came out beautiful but his body fur is reallllllly short and shorter than I have ever imagined or ever seen on another doodle. I just figured his mats were pretty bad and that's what the groomer had to do.

Anyways, he's been having a weird flinch. His flinch is towards his rear end almost like he's getting bit on his behind and legs. At first DH and I thought it was fleas so we put advantix on him right away. He's still doing this and that was Saturday. Zoe isn't itchy and seems fine. Bender only does this while eating and random times but not often. Always during eating tho. DH said he's probably sensitive because he's not used to not having fur.

Does anyone know why he's doing this or have experienced something like this? It's really freaking me out :(

I like the sweater idea. Daisy, who never wants to be on our bed, was under the covers on the bed 2 nights in a row. I don't think I thought of a sweater, great idea.

Thanks Joanna, she seems to be doing quite nicely. The neighbors are still stepping in. One even came over, opened the garage door, took Daisy in his truck over to his house for a couple of hours. The neighbor directly next door watched the whole thing, they always take her for a play in the back yard and was worried she wouldn't be back in time. ha ha. Neighborhood favorite she is. She does miss us though, in the evenings prior she would want to play and play, now she wants to snuggle, which is also new for her.

Thanks for asking after us Joanna, it means a lot.

You have such great neighbors! I'm glad everyone is adjusting well! :)
Me too.

Call your vet.  This can be a reaction to stress.  It may be some seizure activity or just some skin issue.

We will watch him this week and see if it persists. Hopefully it is just that he's not used to the cold but if he continues we will definitely take him. Thank you Andy and Sharon!
Joanna, I wanted to let you know since Spud was having similar uncomfortable issues with a recent shave what seemed to work for him. Last Sunday, I went out to replace most if his indoor toys and picked up a dog T-shirt for him. It's nice and light weight and he seems so much more comfortable. He now lays on the tile floor again, stopped the spinning, and all around d restlessness.
Since Spud's dense coat needs shaved from time to time, and it is so similar to Bender's coat, I thought this may be an idea for you. Simple thin T-shirt for Benders next shave
Hmmm, I see someone mentioned this ready above. Well it worked for us
