Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
While in the midst of wrestling between a Goldendoodle or a Schnoodle and trying to find a breeder, I recently discovered that sheepadoodles exist. I had an OES years ago, she was from an amazing breeder and had the best personality, so I am intrigued. I found some posts on DK but no real details. I would love to hear about the personality and temperment and whether the grooming is equal to that of a goldendoodle. Grooming the OES was very demanding because of the double coat daily brushing was a must to keep matts away.

There aren't a lot of them and fewer from responsible breeders. I'm sure it is similar to a GD/LD in coat. With the few we have on DK, it would be hard to draw a conclusion about all OES-poodle mixes.
It isn't. They go through a coat change just like the GD/LD. I brush my sheepadoodles about 2 to 3 times a week.
This reply is meant for Stella!
Thanks Jessica, they are wonderful dogs!
I think they are a cross of GS/Poodle
Ron the names get mixed up. But most sheepadoodles are OES crossed with poodle, though, yes there are also German shepherd-poodles crosses being bred too. I think the spelling is different: Old English Sheep dogs are Sheepadoodles. German shepherd-poodle crosses should be 'Shepadoodles' , but they are not really anywhere near as established as GDs and LDs so there isn't consistency in name.
No, there really are Sheepadoodles and I have had one ordered for a while. Probably will get him later this year. I am getting it from the same breeder where I got my Goldendoodle many years ago. The goldendoodle had a wonderful coat and I hope the sheepadoodle is not too hard to groom. Here is a photo of a sheepadoodle from the Carmel Poodle Days in September.
I have a friend with two of them. I will message her and ask if she can respond to your questions in this discussion
