Shiloh came home from vet tonight. The vet said that Shiloh was extremely lucky that he did not lose his eye. He found that Shiloh had punctures and lacerations within centimeters of eye. He has to wear a cone for 10 days except when eating or if I am right with him supervising. He has 4 antibiotics daily and painkillers.
I know it could have been a lot worse but still this really really hurts me to see him like this..
thanks for all your caring and comments. They have helped,.
This does not look like just an accident playing with a ball and an English Bulldog to me.
Yes, they say they do temperment testing and only put your dog with like dogs. Clearly, not so.

Cathy, I am so sorry. I have noticed that dogs who are just fine normally, take a dislike to specific dogs - who knows why. I hope Shiloh heals quickly.
Thank you to everyone who replied. It really helped-and I appreciated the caring words given to us by everyone on DK.
I called the Doggie Daycare today and requested the other dog owners info and asked again to view their tape.
They have now agreed to let us see the tape of the event-they tape every room there.
We will be there at 1:30 tomorrow (Thur). Even though no one wants to see their loved pet bitten-I want a better
understanding of what transpired. Shiloh is not eating but its probably due to the pills they gave us, and the
aggravation of wearing the cone. I take it off briefly for him. Shiloh is so smart, as our all Doodles, he even used a fabric toy shaped like a long rectangle and pulled it into his cone and tried using it to rub his eye. I have to watch him like a hawk!!
Will add one final note after meeting with them tomorrow and let you all know what we found out-thanks for being there for us. Shiloh as you can tell is our kid. :)
I am glad that you will get to see the video so that you will see for yourself what happened. It will help you make a decision whether to let Shiloh return, whether the other dog was aggressive, whether Shiloh did something to set the other dog off.
Wow, this is so sad. I am sorry this happened. I hope you at least get some satisfaction from your visit with the Day Care tomorrow.
I'm sorry you and Shiloh are going through this. Thankfully his eye is ok. I hope he heals quickly and I hope you'll get some answers today.
That is so sad. I hope Shiloh is feeling better soon.
What a nightmare, Cathy. I hope that Shiloh heals quickly and isn't in much pain. How scary and confusing that must have been for the poor guy. Hopefully, the video will shed some insight into what actually transpired and led to the attack. I just want to reach out and cuddle your fella, and tell him that his cyber friends are thinking about him.
Update: A picture is worth a thousand words. My DH and I were able to watch the tape from the encounter between my dog and the English Bulldog. They had two adults in one room with 6 dogs, all same size as mine-except for the Bulldog.
The Bulldog had already been misbehaving when tape started for us to see-and was being held in a corner with an adult. The Bulldog was sitting down and was being reprimanded and held in place by an adult. The adult thought the situation was under control and released the Bulldog who ran into the 5 dogs who were playing and running around. My dog had the ball in his mouth and the Bulldog ran towards him to get the ball and in 2 seconds their meeting was over. My dog did not scream-and even kept wagging, you could not see on tape the biting-but then Shiloh stopped playing. He started messing with his face due to the blood and the adults immediately stopped-grabbed him and rushed him to the ER. The only good news is that the dogs did have supervision, the dogs all were playing, it was not an attack but really 2 seconds of one dog wanting a ball from the other-and biting to get the ball, the adults reacted immediately. In hindsight, I am sure they would not have re-released the Bulldog, and I am positive that my dog and the Bulldog were not same temperment.and never should have been playing with the same ball together. They are not doing anything about the Bulldogs behaviour and I will not be going back. I would like to have known what the Bulldog did before the tape started and why he was being held-did he previously go after my dog? that I will never know.
A few answers and more questions. I do hope Shiloh is feeling better today. At least Shiloh's reaction indicates that he won't have fear in the future which is good. He must be one tough cookie. Poor boy :(
I am glad you're not going back. These people do not seem to understand canine behavior. Whatever the bulldog did to be held off apart in a corner and given a reprimand, there is no kind of reprimand that anyone could have given him that would have then made it okay for him to remain in the room with the other dogs. It isn't a child where you can pull them aside and scold them and then send them back to "play nicely". Dogs don't work that way, and I would not entrust my dog to the care of people who don't understand that.
I hope Shiloh heals quickly and you can both put this behind you.
