Honey started with the Runs last night and so far all day, she did not eat anything this morning and has taken a little water today, and has eaten nothing tonight. She is active and playfull, barking as always, and did NOT get into anything she was not suppose to. Now her poop's are mucus and bloody from not eating. Vets on a Holiday are astrominical let alone on the weekend. Do you think Pepto will help her. Made her boiled Hamburger and rice, and also Chicken and Rice and she turned her nose up to it....
The bloody aspect of her poops would worry me. My brother's dog just went to the vet's for the runs, and the vet told them to give her Pepto Bismal. I don't know if you'd be comfortable doing this, but I guess if you gave the proper amount for the proper weight of your dog it might work.
Thanks, heading to the Drug store now, our Bulldog gets Irretable bowel syndrome, and they give flagyl and pills...but its Easter...why now...bbl and will let you know how she is...Thanks Again...
If it were just the runs, I would agree with the pepto & pumpkin, but with the blood & mucus in the stools, I would go to the emergency vet, or least try to get a call through to the vet. You would not have blood in the stool simply from not eating, there is something else going on. If there is something going on medically, I would not give any her anything by mouth without knowing what it is, particularly if this is the first time she has had something like this. Dogs are smart about not eating when there is a reason not to. Certain illnesses, such as pancreatitis, are made much worse by getting a dog to eat when they don't want to.
I think because she is active and playful, I wouldn't worry so much. She is probably not eating to heal her stomach. Give her some pepto and if she gets worse I'd take her in. Hope she gets better...poor baby : (
Denise.....Blake had similar episodes when I first got him...He had exploding projectile diarrhea with blood at least 3 times in the first 4 months that I had him......It seems to be the norm with Skippy's dogs......It's definitely IBS related....If you have any Metronitozole, I would start it right away....If you go to the EV they are going to prescribe a round of Panacure.....It comes in powder form to be mixed with food and/or pill form...It's a dewormer but simultaneously it quells the gas distention and cramping of the small intestine and colon....More than likely, she still has worms and it's exacerbating the IBS......You're going to have to go to the EV regardless to be certain.....

I would definitely go see the Emergency Vet. In our town, they are open when the regular Vet's offices are closed. I don't think that the stool would be bloody from not eating.
I just did an on-line search, and every canine website says bloody stool in an otherwise healthy dog means the dog needs to be seen by a vet, and not to attempt to treat yourself.
Thank You all for the help, Went to the drugstore and got some Pepto, she is really playing like nothing is bothering her, We were at my sisters all week, and my sister feeds her dogs table food mixed in with dog food, and rawhide bones..and these compressed bones..lol...and all kinds of treats(Marrow Bones, Oinkies..etc..). My dogs, do not get all that junk! Well she spoiles the hell out of them when they are there, so Last night on top of what I have been feeding my dogs, she went and added pork chops to the mix. This all started right after dinner time. So I'm thinking this is what is causing her problem for now. I totally agree about Skippy's dog's Jacquie, and praying this is just an overnight thing with her. Honey is not runing a Temp, or vomiting so those are great signs. I did also put a call into the Vet like Karen suggested, and if she worsen...we will be the first one to rush her in there, or not better by the morning. Thank you all for the great support and speedy answers...I had made them their special treat that they love with juice, yogurt and mashed banana and froze it for them for Easter, now she can't have it..have to save it for when she is better. Hope you all have a great Easter and will keep you all up to date on how she is...Thanks so much again..Lots of Love..Happy Easter {{{ALL}}}} Denise, HannahNHoney..
Yeah...It took 4 rounds of Panacure and 2 months to finally get rid of the roundworm, hookworm whipworm and bloody diarrhea that Blake was infested with courtesy of Skippy....The IBS is finally manageable......By what you're saying sounds like irritation ....I hope it's not bone fragments Denise....
The pork chops, though...consumption of high-fat foods have been known to precipitate an attack of pancreatitis in dogs. Denise, get ahold of the vet and tell him about all the extra high fats foods preceding this.
FYI to all....The protocol for canine pancreatitis is the same as it is for humans.....Absolutely no food for at least 48 hours..This gives the pancrease a chance to "rest" as no food in the system keeps it from having to produce digestive enzymes. The prevention of stimulation of the pancreas is essential....
