Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Our Lexi is the best Doodle ever, she is just a fantastic little girl. She has never been a great eater but since we home cook for her she has turned the corner and is eating much better. The problem is she is pretty active and at 19 months has not topped the 40lb mark. She is so cute but soooooooooooooooo skinny. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fatten her up a little?

She is built more like a Poodle then a Doodle...........

she isnt skinny it is her body type~ nothing bad or wrong with her

personally I prefer the boxy look so I understand why you feel like she needs some pounds on her but there really isnt anything you can do about it.

Thankfully only a few animals overeat to the point of being obese...
She looks great to me. I too have a very Poodly F1 Goldendoodle. He is 27 inches and weighs around 30 kg (66 pounds). His ribs can be easily felt, but he's not too thin - just right. And he is sooooo athetic. His joints would certainly suffer if he were carrying excess bulk. Don't worry - just like us, dog's are far fitter if they are on the lean side!
He is so pretty, looks great!
We have two mini GDs, Rosie at 19 months is about 22 pounds and Maggie at 7 months just weighed in at 17 pounds. Both are finally eating better now that they have discovered Taste of the Wild. We've tried so many brands that I never thought we would find something they would eat. Our vet said to feel their ribs with a little fat tissue is just right and they are in her opinion at a nice weight. Maggie is definitely a lap dog so I hope she keeps her weight down. They get heavy on your lap after a while. You pup looks just fine to me. Good luck with her.
