Profile Information

About Me:
I have studied Pet Behaviour Counselling - but first and foremost Im a doodle addict and adore my boys.

I love walking, running, swimming and clicker training with my doodles and would spend all my time bumming around on the beach with them - but work occasionally gets in the way. I first encountered the joy of Goldendoodles through an Assistance Dog charity and vowed to own one of these beautiful dogs myself.

I love all things training and behavioural and of course anything doodle! I am currently working for a conservation charity called the National Trust and sometimes take Welly to work with me. He loves days spent teaching schools kids about the sand dunes - and he always has an army of new fans at the end of the day. They always remember his name - but I am just 'the lady with Welly'. Office days with him are great - having an excuse to walk through the woods at lunch time is priceless.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
Wellington is my 4 year old Goldendoodle and he is the center of my world!
He is active and friendly and loved by (nearly) all who meet him.

In his eyes all in the world is good - and each and every day is an adventure. Live for the moment is his philosophy and I learn from him each day. He's a total Momma's Boy - and will do anything as long as it's with me.

Bingley (Mr Bingley) is a 2 year old Labradoodle and he loves his big brother Welly. He's HUGE - even bigger than the Welly! Bingley loves playing fetch and will do anything for his balley. He's a big smooch of a doodle - who has no idea of his size. A gentler giant you would never meet than Mr Bingley.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder, Gift from Friend/Relative
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
For their goofy, lovable ways. Their intelligence and enormous sense of humour. They like nothing better than to be by your side, joining in whatever activity is on the go.

The lack of dog hair left around, and also the lack of dog smell is an added bonus!
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
Welly, Bingley and I go running, swimming and cycling. We spend far too much time bumming along the beach, splashing through the water and playing ball. Welly walks me to the pub and makes sure I get home ok. We also have a dog friendly cafe so he comes with me for my caffiene fix.

We also love to snuggle up on the sofa.

Bingley is joining in with as much as he can - likes coming to the cafe, bumbling along the beach and meeting up with his sisters. He also comes running and hiking in the hills.

Both boys LOVE clicker training and double doodle dancing.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
A little bit but nothing major
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
Me! and Kelly's Dog Grooming Parlour - she's an angel!
Favorite Doodle Products?
Wouldn't be without a slicker, an untangler rake and a bouncy ball.

Single

It's Double Doodle time!

Posted on May 14, 2010 at 3:02pm 13 Comments

I've been Ummming and Arrrring about a second Doodle/Ooodle for about a year now. Welly was 2 years old in January, and even though he's a big lad and fills a huge part of my life I couldn't help feeling there was room for another doodle. Or was I being unrealistic and would 2 lead to double trouble - especially when my mum would have to look after them. But on every walk I couldn't help feeling that both Welly and I would love the company of another dood.

Well I finally… Continue

I've had dogs before..... big ones, small ones, scruffy ones and gruffy ones.... but never have I joined forums about dogs.

Never before have I spent more time looking for doggie collars and doggie beds than looking for anything for myself. He even has a jumper (for when he gets his hair cut and its cold!).... and a dressing gown (for when he's wet!).

I even have a sweatshirt with my favourite picture of my… Continue

Doodle Days

Posted on February 8, 2010 at 1:42pm 10 Comments

Im sitting on my bed, after a tiring day at work, and my Goldendoodle Welly is snuggled up on my bed too. I never allowed dog's on my bed.... until I got Welly. We've been out on the beach in the dark with our newest toy - a glow in the dark bally. I never used to walk on the beach in the dark.... until I got Welly.

Im wondering if soon we'll win the lottery and I can become a full-time doodle mum. We'll buy a camper van and go on a tour of the UK, just me and my Welly.

Welly… Continue

Aww that is okay and thanks for answering now. At that time I was so distraught but since then we have sought out medical attention and training. She has passed her CGC and now on to intermediate obedience training! She is still fearful but some has subsided as she builds confidence in herself and we learn to handle a dog who reacts as fear biter. With training, combined with the meds we have made great strides.
I did see the post just now in the discussion area. Interesting. Since I came " public" with these problems ( meaning--My dog is not perfect) so many others have written me to state they have the same problem.
So--I started the Anxiety and Mental Health Issue Group here on DK. I will place the suggestion about the pheromone collar in our groups suggestion! There seem to be a lot of us here who adopted rescues that are not developing normally with social issues and we so much want to help them. We will use all the suggestions we can get Thanks again

I love this statement your wrote about your Welly. How do you think a dog becomes this positive?

I have been told I live by the philosophy that all the world is good until proven otherwise.
My oldest doodle ( Spud ) is confident to the point of arrogance but loves and trusts everyone also.
My youngest doodle ( Starlit, 8 months --rescue at 4 months ) is petrified of the world. All is evil ( even with a treat in their hand ). Our oldest is a big help with this girl and we try to find new and creative ways to socialize and expose her to situations. Swimming and free running at parks helps her confidence--and of course provides her with exercise.

She has had obedience training and does well, although if she becomes afraid, all is out the door. Sometimes for days. On the main page today is a post from a woman with an aggressive doodle. My fear is that her fear will become aggression. Any ideas in what we can do next?

Thanks
