Our guys were crated until they were housebroken....we kept the crates in our bedroom.  Now they each have a bed on the floor right next to our bed.  We don't let them sleep in our beds at night.  Sometimes in the evening if I'm in bed watching TV I'll invite them up, but they know when I turn the lights off they need to go to their bed.  My big guy seems to get too hot on our bed anyway, because he only lasts about 15 minutes during the "cuddle time" and then he's off to his own bed.

Our dogs, Kasey (cockapoo) and Oliver (labradoodle) sleep in our room.  Kasey sleeps on the bottom corner of our king size bed.  If Oliver gets to our bed first, he will snuggle between the 2 of us until we fall asleep and then goes to his crate.  We have always had 2 crates, 1 downstairs and 1 upstairs in our bedroom.  Once Oliver was able to be left alone without crating (about 1.5 years), we put away the downstairs crate.  I would love to replace the upstairs crate with a more fashionable dog bed but Oliver really likes to sleep in his crate so I guess it stays.

Maddie (3 1/2 yrs) puts herself to bed every night about 8 p.m. She sleeps in her crate (door off) in the laundry room. Around 5 a.m. she comes upstairs and gently hops up on our bed and goes back to sleep until we get up. If we are leaving the house she goes into her crate and sleeps. She has full run of the house but her favorite place is her crate.

Our little peanut Ellie is 13 weeks old right now so she sleeps in her crate right beside our bed.  She is very good about bed time.  She comes into our bed for morning snuggles around 7am after she's been outside.

Love those early morning Doodle snuggles!

Libby slept in a crate in the family room for just about two years!  Since then she has slept in our bed at our feet!  Once in awhile she will sneak up between us, but there is NO room so back she goes to the our feet area!  When Libby joined our family we said she will NEVER sleep in our bed and now we would NEVER have it any other way:)  Love her in our bed!

Our dogs can sleep wherever they like ;)  In the Winter they are both in the bed with us, in Summer Kona likes the cooler floor, or by the sliding glass door in the dining room.  Buddy is usually sprawled out with his legs in the air on the bed by DH's legs...

Libby allows me to sleep in my bed with her.  When she is home with her mom it's the same thing.  Libby's mom said she would never allow Libby to sleep in her bed, and kept her in the kitchen (Libby had a crate but hated it).  When we started having sleepovers, when Libby was about a year old, I told my friend that Libby would sleep in my room and if she wanted to sleep on the bed, so be it.  She was such a cuddler that my friend got jealous and that was the end of the kitchen!

Love this story Robin!  Soooooo cute:)

I am still trying to figure that out with 1yr old Violet...I had put her crate in my room last night , normally she is in her own room in the crate which I think works better for her.. less noise ....

My son and I were just talking and laughing about Alma's sleep habits yesterday.  I found her on the living room couch with her head hanging off the side yesterday morning.  She started off in our bathroom on the cool tile the night before.  After that she wandered out to the guest bedroom bed.  Sometimes I see her sleeping at the top of the stairs or down by the back door.  And this is all in the course of one night!  So my son and I were wondering just how much sleep she gets with all her wandering around.  And then we thought it would be funny if we slept around the house each night like she does.

In bed with us! Thank goodness it is a king, but even then it is pretty tight. Hudson likes to sleep curled up,  but very close to me,  pushing up against my legs. Lily usually sleeps in the middle sprawled out on her back- paws up in the air. :) When Hudson has his longer coat he tends to sleep on the floor for part of the night. I guess he gets too hot.
