Jennifer, I'm so glad you followed your heart and your gut instincts and did the right thing for Jack. And so glad to hear that he will be ok. Yes, there are many on this board that seem to be an "expert" in all things and all to quickly want to give advice. They should be here to give support - not advice. I find that many people are extremely judgmental in their opinions. Just take them with a grain of salt and stick around for those of us that enjoy the board for the social side of sharing stories about our doods.
Thank you.
Jen, I saw that dicussion after you closed it, thus it made no sense at all to me. I thought it was something from Valentine's Day lol. Maybe with a calmer eye you should reread the feedback. I did and I did not read it as mean or judgemental. Not everyone is always going to agree or give us what we want on this site or any other. I respect that people have different reads on different situations and am glad that people take the time to write out their well thought out opinions, even when they do not jive with mine. It's off the cuff remarks and insults that are mean and I honestly do not see much of that here. I do agree with you wholeheartedly on your point that advice on this site or any other is no substitute for veterinary advice. I hope for the best of health for you and sweet Jack and I am sure that all others do too. We are all in this journey together with our much loved doodles!
Thank you..... For your Input. I did feel judged. But feelings are not facts. They are feelings. Thanks I was asking for other dogs with heart murmurs. Not advice on going to the vet. Driving up health care or stuff like that.

Jennifer, Im so sorry that you and Jack are dealing with yet another medical problem! I'm so sorry that you were not met with the usual friendly concerns. I didn't see your previous post. The best advice is ALWAYS consult your vet if you feel there is a problem. Like you said, we are not vets  and we often advise people on other sites to consult the vet before taking advice from strangers who don't know anything about your dog or your situation.

I understand exactly how you feel about Jack and am so happy that he will be under the care of a qualified physician!

Thanks I am so glad we brought him so I know where we are at and where to go from here

I'm a bit concerned, Jen, about this posting.  The title of your post sounds like an attack on well-informed Doodle Kisses members who are doing nothing more than sharing their experience and perspective.  There is no absolute right or wrong for most of the issues that are posted here on DK.  The reason I've been here as an active participant for so many years is because so often there are DKers who have specialized backgrounds or expertise who are there to offer their perspective.  I value that so much.  I don't always agree with it, but it always gets me thinking.  Ultimately I know that I am an intelligent, educated dog owner who is fully capable of making decisions about issues that I face with my Doodles (with the valued advice of my Vet, Trainer, and Groomer), but having input from experienced Doodle owners with a broad range of background, education, and expertise enriches my decisions.  You certainly have the right and obligation to assimilate and react accordingly to the input that rings true to you....the choice is totally yours.  I am only objecting to devaluing input that people offered in good faith....do as you see fit...that is YOUR right, but let's not denigrate anyone who took the time to offer their input.  We are a "Doodle Family" and we can agree to disagree. I'm so hoping that Jack will continue to be a healthy, happy, and totally adorable Doodle.

Jane with all,the respect you deserve because I do really enjoy you a lot... "Well informed" isn't an accurate statement .....not in this case..... Well informed would imply the person was informed of the facts and the disease...neither which was true In this case..... Maybe well I formed about something. Else but for sure not heart disease or its progression or they would have known having it checked out and jumping on treatment is the right thing .... No disrespect to anyone...really...truly. Mean that.....

I am sorry some of the responses were hurtful to you.  I didn't read them so don't know if they were truly meant to be hurtful, were insensitive, or merely your interpretation of an opinion different from yours and meant to be reassuring.

I am glad that you followed your instincts and had Jack tested, and while the results weren't what a dog mommy would want to hear, I am glad they justified your concern and that Jack will get early treatment.

I am very 'non-medical' regarding myself and my dogs, so early treatments for many issues don't happen, and while I recognize this might not be wise, I don't think I will change my ways.  I do, however respect those who are on top of medical issues.  Because you have so many health challenges yourself, I would expect nothing less from you regarding Jack. :-}

Thanks Nancy, I just felt like they comments were not supportive even if it was just sorry your dog has an issue. but rather creating a judgement on me for looking for something wrong with my dog and feelings I was overreacting and why have him have a work up if they can't do valve replacements.

I totally don't need any discord in my life. It's the last thing... I. Was just saying how I feel....and in fact the advice I was given, was not good advice according to the cardiac vet.....and people just agree with the advice without understanding. I didn't have a clue anything was wrong. I took him for his annual ..... I think and I felt that what was said to me by some people is I was looking for trouble with me dog,,,,, I really wasn't. I felt hurt because I am as kind as I can be to anyone and everyone and I felt judged.

Trust me you do t have to agree with me for me to feel, supported, most of my most valued friends are the ones that bring a different perspective to me, I welcome it...but not just flat out making judgements without understanding.

The fact was as smart as some people, may or may not be, you should go with your gut and your vets opinion and never take anyone's word as the gospel, had I done that in this case, Jack would not have received treatment and damage could have occurred to his heart that could have been prevented.

I think it's important to agree to disagree in a safe place. I disagree with just taking advice .... In fact I think it's dangerous.....
. That doesn't make anyone a bad person. But different views. Not judgements should be welcomed.
I didn't do anything medical to find jacks murmur. Just took him to the dr. I totally respect you, appreciate your perspective and understand what you are saying....

Thanks.

Jennifer ~ I am sorry you had your feelings hurt.  I am glad you took Jack to the cardiologist and got some peace of mind.  I could tell from your first post you were very concerned about him.  Best wishes to you for a speedy recovery from your upcoming medical procedure.

I was horrified Linda.... Totally not warranted. I just was so upset because they were talking about congestive heart failure. I am having a rather rough time and it was the straw that broke me,,,,,,life is. Hard and I can handle that. But I can't handle the thought of anything wrong with jack especially, because I am getting ready to leave him again....

Much love to you
