Is it unusual for a dog to feel discomfort 3 days after being spayed. Her stitches look ok. I gave her baby asprin and she is laying in her crate. Yesterday we had family here and I think she did too much. I wasn't told t o crate her. Just not let her play rough. Hopefully the baby asprin will make her feel better. Any advice appreciated.. I think I would put a call in to the vet and see what they have to say. After the first evening home from her surgery Tara never showed any sign of discomfort. In fact the stinker jumped up on our bed (pretty high and she is a mini) which she had never done before and of course I FREAKED!!

Does she moan all the time or just when she moves and did she just start showing signs of discomfort after the family visit or before that as well?

I'd definately call her vet.  Bailey was automatically on meds for 3 days and showed no signs of pain.. Keep us updated!

I had to call the emergency vet and she told me to give the asprin like my vet instructed and if she continues to seem uncomfortable to take her there. Which I will. It's not a constant moan and nothing since the asprin. She did drink water and ate some food. She isn't sleeping just laying in crate.

That sounds like a good plan Denise. Maybe if she just relaxes for a day it will give things a chance to settle down. Poor girl! I hope she improves from here on out!

I'm glad to hear the aspirin is helping her. Please update us on Sophie. Poor girl!

I agree with the others I would take her in. Daisy came home with pain meds and I gave them to her so she seemed fine.

It is nearly impossible to keep them from playing, maybe you are right and she just over did it.

Hope she feels better whatever you decide.

Call her vet and tell them what is going on!

Thank you all gor answering my post. After talking to the ,Vet on call I ran to store and bought baby asprin. I gave given her 2 and she seems to be much better. There are moments she acts like she is bring bit by something and I wonder if her stitches are jagging her. I will continue to watch her closely. Right now she is chewing on a hoof. Thanks again.
Plezz excuse mistakes...I hate typing on my phone ..my laptop died....lol...
Those dissolvable stitches can jab while healing, plus they get itchy.

I am glad she seems to feel better.. Hope she continues to heal without any problems!!!

I would call the vet.... Sasha had no problems what so ever but then again my vet gave her pain meds for a couple of days, same with Oliver, he had 3 days worth of pain meds.  Both doodles were fine and no problems.  Its worth piece of mind to make the call.
