Sophie had her third chemo treatment today. We really couldn't ask for things to be going any better really. We were about 4 days in to her 1st treatment when she started to perk up a little bit and want to start eating. Since then she has been a little pig. Last week at her 2nd treatment she had gained back 2.5 lbs of the 10 or so that she lost. This week her weight remained the same so I felt a little better about that. It is hard not to feed her when she sits there looking up at the counter, but we also don't want to create other problems by having her get too heavy. The nausea and diarrhea went away in the 2nd week and she has now pretty much returned to our normal Sophie girl. Her activity isn't quite as rowdy as it was, but it is rowdy enough. Dr. Jenny said today that she couldn't be any happier with the way that she is responding to her treatments. She said that she would bet that she has already entered her remission. Sophie's lymph nodes went down within a day or two of chemo starting and Dr. Jenny said that some of them never go down or at least take a long time. She has said all along that we caught it really early. Hopefully that will buy us a lot more time, but there are no guarantees. She indicated that normally if they are going to have problems with the Chemo that it happens in the first 3 weeks or so and Sophie doesn't seem to be bothered by it at all other than she just seems a little tired sometimes. So, we keep our fingers crossed and hope that all continues to go well. The chemo process is for 6 months, so we have a long way to go. I try to just walk that fine line between enjoying the fact that she is doing so well, but still knowing that tomorrow could bring something completely different. Thanks again to everyone for all your prayers, encouragement and support it means a lot to all of us.

I'm so glad that Sophie is doing well with her treatment, and is acting like her old self again. And I want to second Jane's comment about the way you have handled all of this, Sheri. I hope that Sophie is indeed in remission, and one that lasts a very very long time. Our thoughts are always with you both.
