Hi everyone,

So I just noticed a sore/hole/cut on both of Oliver's front paw pads and it's really got me worried.

We met w a friend and went to their roof top park tonite, which had rubber flooring - could that be the culprit? Also we had a play date last night where they ran around on concrete.

But both of these things we've done plenty of time in the past.

Any advice on what I should do to heel this is greatly apredicated.

The same thing happens to my Meg if I let her play on concrete (my girls are usually on gravel and grass but my daughter's yard is largely concrete).  The best thing we have done for it is put Epsom salts in a couple of inches of water in the tub, I stand her in that for about five minutes three or four times a day.  It soothes and helps to heal.  We also had a topical cream but she wanted to lick that off so we discontinued.

This happened once to Murph when we let him run on a tennis court.  I took him to the vet and she cleaned it, covered it with antibacterial ointment and then bandaged it.  It healed in a couple days.

Good advice.
Cold tea bags are supposed to help with discomfort and healing. I can't remember why, but I think it is something to do with the tannin.

When this happened to Charlotte last year, we put a baby's sock over that foot and secured it around her ankle with self-stick athletic tape (Coban brand, I think). We were told to avoid walks until the skin abraded, and to take her out to do her business on grass, only. It took about a week to heal.  I also soaked that paw in an antiseptic wash several times a day for the first few days after it all happened.
