Larry, you can feed your dog kibble its entire life.  They don't 'need' wet food.  Some people like to add some wet food as a topper to the kibble.  The one thing you want to be careful of is 'catering' to the dog - thinking it is bored with its food so you add and change and get very frustrated and you often end up creating a dog who is a very fussy eater. If you want to give your dog variety and once your pup is on adult food you can change flavors within a brand - some brands are easier to do this with - like Fromm.  As to how much to feed, begin with the recommended portions on the bag.  If the vet feels the pup is growing well, then that is the correct amount - this becomes much easier with a full grown dog because you can watch their weight yourself and monitor portions.

Thank you for your take Larry. I was talking with my husband about it and we are going to look into that breeder some more.

Hi Larry...I see that you are getting a puppy from Swiss Ridge Kennels...I was just wondering what made you pick them, and are you going to pick up the puppy or are they "shipping" it? Thanks so much for any info you can share with me.

I agree with the post by Ricki. I live in Northern California and called and spoke with the owner of Tropico when I was looking for a doodle 5+ years ago. I also did a lot of research and found out the name of the kennel had been changed due to a divorce. The owner claimed she changed the name due to some bad reviews posted by her ex of the old name kennel.
There are so many great breeders out there. Please look for one that raises the pups in their home. We finally found a breeder about 2 hours from us and went to meet the breeder and see the dogs and where they live. Best of all, we took our kids to see the puppies at 4 weeks just to play! Good luck and take your time with the research. You will have this dog for many years.
You can also search on the Groups tab for the breeders you are looking at. Maybe there are others here on DK who have pups from them and you can ask specific questions to them.
If I were to get another doodle I would get advice from Ginny Nightingale here on DK.

Hi, I thought I would post here since it is more private and since we aren't supposed to discuss breeders in the main forum. I nearly got a pup from Tropico Kennels 5 years ago when I was looking. It is very tempting but what finally turned me off was the fact that their adult dogs are basically kennel dogs and not allowed to live with a loving family. Many breeders now have guardian homes for their breeder dogs so they can have a quality life too. I ended up going with one of those. Just my personal choice but there are many sides to the dog breeding industry.
