Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Turned out to be amazing!!! I was nervous bringing him in after hearing all the shaving horror stories! Thanks to DK, I went in with the doodle instructions & pictures. The groomer is very highly rated in Philly, they even specialize in hand scissoring & stripping, but I was still nervous.

The only gripe I have is how long he was at the groomers. I dropped him off at 11:30 & was called at 2 telling me he was ready. They said they ran a little behind & got started with him around 11:45. Still over 2 hours!

So, moment of truth...I walk in & he's clawing the floor trying to get to me. He looked AMAZING. He was 4.5 inches and they cut him to 1.5 inches. When his coat really starts changing, I may even get him cut to 1 inch It looks like they cut his nose really short, but the rest of him is so great that I don't mind that.

I cannot embed the photos, I'm on my iPad, my computer is broken. If someone would embed them is appreciate it!

Haha, I'm glad it was considered fast then! He's also only 16 lbs so I didn't think it would take as long as if he was larger. I wasn't thinking it would be that long, so I had to entertain myself for longer. Ended up just aimlessly walking around Philly, window shopping in the expensive part of town.

Yes, I definitely think I've found a keeper. I thought the price was pretty reasonable for being in an expensive part of the city and they didn't charge me more for his "playfulness", they called it. He apparently wasn't growling or biting, but he kept trying to play with the scissors & clippers when they did a sanitary trim.

He's red & has a green leash--everyone participating in the St. Patrick's day drunkenness kept asking if I dyed his hair & dressed him up for the holiday. I even got 3 marriage proposals because they didn't want to part with my dog! One guy, tall with red hair said I just had to marry him since he & Stew were a perfect match-LOL. My dad met me after he was groomed & he couldn't believe the things the college kids were saying to me!

Sounds like Stew is a Stud Magnet  :)   Who needs EHarmony when you can just get a doodle

Sounds like you had a fun day!

This Spring's groom took 10 days and over 22 hours  I still keep noticing bits of hair that was missed every once in awhile.

He looks very nice.  Seems like things are going better for you now.

It sounds like you are following Spud around with a scissors after the initial groom. My kids and dogs know the agony of this at my house too! (Well, my kids are grown but I did it to them when they were little) Snip, snip, snip!

Bonnie, funny.  I see the visual   and I know it well too.  My youngest son used to get his hair cut in his sleep.  He was just so difficult.  When I said it was time for a haircut he would scream, " Dont cut me! Oh no, dont cut me"  Ugh, embarrassing. So emotional

Yes, I do following him around with the scissors to get the complete job done.  Then I reach a point where it is what it is... Especially with his difficult coat

Hahahaha! I cut Ben's hair when he was asleep, too!

Yes, Stew is definitely a magnet! No one can believe his color & size. It doesn't hurt that he just LOVES people & dogs. I met a women with a "mini" labradoodle yesterday, who was certainly not a mini at 45 lbs with long legs. She said she wished hers was that small. To think I originally thought he'd get big because he's heavy. I'm hoping he gains some height to even him out.

Joanne, that's s long time! I was considering grooming Stew myself, but if every grooming is this good & reasonable, I'll definitely only do touch ups!

I brushed him today and could barely get a comb through, his coat is so thick. Do most get the hair thinned out? I might ask for that next time!

Great cut!  Even more handsome, now.  Stick with this groomer for sure!  And take the "after" picture with you next time just to make sure it's done the same.

Here's a much better before & after shot! Sorry I can't embed it, I can't wait for my computer to be fixed!

Are those r-e-a-l-l-y  l-o-n-g eye lashes I see? He's adorable!

Yes, they are! I didn't mention them to the groomer and then thought they'd be cut, but surprisingly he said that they always keep them long. I may have them trimmed next time, as I don't want them obnoxiously long, lol!
