Summer cut!

I tried so hard to keep the matting at bay-but failed pretty miserably.  With the trip and all the hubbub for the move, Quincy's grooming really got behind, but the mats did not.  So, we bit the bullet and brought him in for a cut.  The groomer was willing to keep him long and cut out the mats, but he would have been uneven.  We opted for an all over, and here is the result.  

He is all legs!  No wonder he runs so fast!  I still like my shaggy boy, but I am resigned that this was a necessary step for the summer and to get all that matting out.  sigh.

He looks so silky smooth!!!  Can you post a close-up of his face?  I just ordered a grooming table from Costco that's supposed to be here today and we're going to try to do Myla this evening.  We always did our last doodle Zak but I always had trouble with the face!  I'm trying to figure out how I want Myla's face and I love the look of Quincy's!

 I had to wake him from his post grooming nap!  He is exhausted!  He had mats on his side beard so she had to trim that down, but I think it makes him less "head heavy" or not so big head/skinny body with it trimmer.

That's exactly what I'm trying to avoid - the big head!  He looks awesome!  I am going to try to do that tonight!  Thank you so much Lori and please give Quincy a huge doodle hug from me and thank him for posing for me!  Hope he can get back to his nap!

you're welcome.  I am not as brave as you to try to cut him myself.  I guess a table and the proper lease deal makes a big difference though.  good luck!

I'll try to post a picture - not as good as Quincy's for sure but we're happy!  It was better than expected and she was actually really good - waaaay better than when I try to comb her!  It took us a good two hours and we still have some to do but we felt she shouldn't have to pay for our inexperience!!!  LOL  She looks more "chopped" but we will figure it out!!!!  Your Quincy looks so much like my Zak!  Fun to watch her!!!!
