PS.  Here is more detail on the process for ‘winning’ the HDA trophy.  It will be awarded to the person who gives the largest donation over the course of the 24 hours of the fund-raiser.  We will keep you updated on the highest current amount (although we won’t tell you who it is).  Here’s an example.  One member makes a donation of $50 to DK.  They are now the leader and would get the HDA trophy if no one else donates higher amount.  We announce in the comments that the highest donation donation is $50.  Some other member then donates $60!  We announce that the current highest donation is $60.  But… the first member who donated $50 REALLY wants that HDA trophy!  So they donate $20 more to make their total for the day $70.  $70 is now the highest donation and would be awarded the HDA trophy.  We then announce the new total highest donation of $70 here in the comments.  (We realize now that this might cause us to stay up all night announcing new donations… we’ll do our best to keep the total current. :-)

With just under two hours to go before this whole thing is done for another year, here are some current stats:

Current leader to win HDA trophy:  $150 contribution

Total contributions:  $1373.91

We had set goals of $1500 one-time donations and $1000 subscription donations.  The vast majority of the total donations thus far are one-time donations.  That could be because we have such and awesome prize for the top contributor.  Or, more likely, that is just the way you prefer to give.  We hear you!  :-)  We probably shouldn't have broken down the two amounts based on our gut and just did one total amount.

We like subscriptions because they help us plan better.  They are for some a more painless way to give since there is no "big hit" contribution but just multiple little ones.  Which ever way works best for you works for us.

Either way, we are extremely thankful for your continued support.  We will still be happy if all contributions were one time deals.

One note about procedure:  The PayPal clock will be the official clock for when last minute 'snipe bid' contributions are too late to count for the HDA award.  The HDA will be awarded to the person with the highest total contribution as of 12 noon PST according to the PayPal timestamp.  Go get 'em.
