My parents are interested in getting one of these dog's. We are in MI. & I am having a HARD time finding any in our state. Just thought I'd ask here if anyone knows of a GOOD breeder close to MI.

thanks

Barb, I haven't heard of these and would doubt that there are any GOOD breeders of them anywhere. Where did you hear about them?
When I looked up miniature beagle I found it...
'teacup' anything are often fringe breeders.  Teacup dogs are not within the breed standards of most_ if any_ breeds.  So a little red flag should go up when breeders breed extreme sizes.  Why do they want a teeny tiny beagle?
They love small dog's and are interested in a beagle...
There are so many toy breeds, and lots of them are also non-shedding, very affectionate, & easier to live with than a beagle. Even a tiny Beagle would still be a hound, with the baying, digging, stubbornness, etc.
Yes, you should also see Taquito in comparison to a teacup chihuahua. An acquantance has one (plus we see them at the dogpark). Generally speaking, they are much more fragile, barky, and we know they are not as healthy.
Taquito is still teeny at 6-7 pounds, but he is definitely not a teacup, in looks or personality.
Apparently, there was once a tiny little "pocket Beagle" back in Elizabethan times, but they are extinct. The ones now advertised 7 sold as "pocket" or "teacup" beagles are created by unethical breeders who breed runts together, or by breeding dachshunds into the dogs to shorten the legs. In each case, there are health problems, as you would expect.
Here's some good information:

Thanks Karen this looks like a great link=)
Barb, I have 2 beagles and I would not recommend the so called teacup (pocket) beagle. If your parents are interested in a smaller beagle, I would recommend that they talk to a reputable breeder of 13" beagles. This means the beagle will be 13" or less at the shoulder. They could then choose one of the smaller or runt of the litter. It would give them the smaller dog.

I can attest to Karen's statement about no matter what size, a beagle is still a hound. They are bred to have BIG voices and are not afraid to use them. While my guys aren't stubborn (read extremely food motivated) or diggers they have no qualms about telling the neighborhood that they have chased a squirrel or opossum up a tree. And they shed a lot.

Don't get me wrong, I love my boys, but they will be the only beagles we will own.
My sister has a Beagle/Basset (he was a rescue) hound mix (we call him a Bagel) He is cute as can be, but there is not a fence that can keep him,he is so hard headed its funny....(well not to my sister) if he does something wrong and you catch him, he rolls to submission and he is heavy and long with short legs so its hard to pick him up, he wont move. He has a heart of gold and loves life but he is very much a hound dog! Oh and he loves water but Bassets cant go into water (they sink) now when they go to the cabin he comes to my house. I do love him,he is a great dog.Just needed more training at young age but that was when he was with "old" family.
