What a day yesterday!! As the vet was talking to us yesterday, with the good news, I just could not wait to come home and get on here to let everyone know Hurley is getting the surgery. I went on here to share what we were going through. The bond that I share with Hurley, along with my family, is incredible. You all share that same bond with your doodles. I just want him to be able to run with other dogs, go back to the dog park, and people pet him. He needs that interaction.

Today, I was walking with him and another dog mom came up with her pup wanting them to play. I had to explain to her that right now Hurley was going through a lot and couldn't come into contact with them. The good thing is, in a couple of months he will be romping again!

I was up til 3 am finding a fundraiser! With my vets permission, I found one that will hold all donations and at the end of the fundraiser send the check to my vet! So very excited to get Hurleys story out there! I just know it will work out..I will let you all know when I start the fundraiser! I am keeping my fingers crossed!

It's because of you and your prayers and all the doodle love that has turned this frown upside down......

Personally, I was hoping you would use a fundraiser like Doodle Messenger that allows us to make the donation directly to the Vet in the pet's name.    I really like that concept.    If I ever got in that spot, that is what I would do.   Anyhow, let me know the fundraiser is set up and I help out with what I can.   I am so glad Hurley is getting the surgery he needs.  Thanks for being such a great Doodle Mom.

Hi! I am actually writing them too...! I am sending them Hurleys story since I have the quote from his vet. I am not starting the fundraiser until I find out if we are accepted for the Doodle messenger. I am using all my resources to find the best way to raise the money for Hurley..! I wanted to wait until I got the quote to submit to the Doodle messenger so they have everything to start the process :) I am keeping my fingers crossed!

You could also look into "Chip In"...that is the one that is used here a lot.

I guess I am old school and believe in the direct method.  I was just going to send your vet some money with Hurley's name on it once you posted it.  I guess that is not the way to do things nowadays.

Hi :) I read your reply..I actually don't know what to these days either! It's not the old school..it's that there have been people who have taken this from us. I know Hurley is in need of this surgery. I just thought I needed a place that would verify Hurley and his vet bill. I have no problem giving the name of Hurleys vet and number. They are aware of what I am doing and trying to find help for his surgery. He said he would take as many calls, and his office to verify Hurley! And there is no problem with "old school".. Maybe the world would be a better place if we went back to that :)

We can go back I think but the Vet needs to say it's okay to sent the donations right to him/Hurley. But I also think using the Doodle Messenger was a great idea...they are wonderful.

I sent my emails to the Doodle Messenger last night..i have been told that this is a good way to go..I am hoping that they accept Hurley then my vets name, address and number are on the page.:) I will able to give updates and pictures on this page of how is he doing and the progress he is making!

I am sure an organization is a good way to donate.  A 'neutral' party as a money holder probably is safer for both sides to ensure that the money is used properly as well as credited to the proper acct.

I see it Regina, it's hard to discern who wrote to whom sometimes - ha ha.

I think you are saying it will be okay to contact him for questions or such but it really doesn't say anything about if he's willing to take donations in his name.

Of course this is just one option...whenever it's all set up, maybe through both, we will definitely be donating. I admire that you are going all the way with Hurley, some would have chosen an other option :o(

Is there some sort of time frame that the professionals are thinking the surgery would be done? Do you work, are you going to be able to be home with him afterward? Just wondering.
