Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I found this site while researching Goldendoodles. Because one of our neighborhood happen to mention the Goldendoodle. She new I looking for a dog and I forget the reason she mention the Goldendoodle as no one in our neighborhood has one. I live in a neighborhood of about 50 homes and EVERYONE knows each other due to the fact its an aviation community and we don't have that many homes.

Anyways I went on line and found this site to found out what the Goldendoodle was. And did a lot of research into breeders. Tonight I finally talked to my husband and we have decided not to go with a Goldendoodle breeder, but to adopt at our local Humane Society or "Pound". There are some many needy dogs out there that need good homes. I have put an application into VIP Rescue which is a Poodle rescue group but haven't herd anything from them. Probably need to call to see if they got the app.

I got a lot of good information on here. I think we can get the dog we want and age by going to the Humane Society. Of course it probably will not be a Goldendoodle, but my family growing up had good luck with "stray" animals and "muts".

Thanks for the information.

Kimberly, I wish everyone would put as much time into their research as you did, there would be a lot less animals needing rescue groups. Good luck with your search and please let us know how it goes. We do have honorary doodles so you don't have to disappear.

Kim,  There are rescues specifically for doodles if you want to go that route.  I am so glad that you are going to adopt from a shelter/rescue as you are so right that there are so many great dogs out there that need someone to love them.  Good luck and I hope you find exactly the right dog for  your family.  Our Sophie was 13 months old when we got her and she is THE PERFECT dog.  She was housetrained, past all the puppy behaviors like chewing, etc.  Please let us know about  your new addition even if it's not a doodle.  Blessings.

Congratulations on your decision....and best of luck finding your next furry companion.  You are welcome to stick around if you like and let us know about the doggy you choose.    And NOW you will be super informed about buying well bred dogs so you can help others =)

Well I'm glad the decision is made I hate to be in a "maybe".  Plus I think animals "know" that you are helping them because they have seen the "bad side". I think our cat knows. She was a stray at a very young age. She found us at around 3-4 months old while we where building our house. Now she is 7 years old and has great life. The thing about getting the dog is it needs to be good with cats and small kids as we have my husband grandkids come up from time to time. But that will work it out when I do the applications.

Good luck with your search, and I admire you for thinking first of the dogs out their in desperate need of a good loving home.

There are quite a few doodles needing rescue--you might want to check out the doodle rescue collective at http://doodlerescuecollectiveinc.org

They are GREAT people who rescue the doodles from shelters, foster them and prepare them for a new home and then place them. It is worth looking into!

Yes I have seen their site and just looked at the application.

Good luck, Kimberly, I'm sure you will find the dog who is meant to be with you.

Kimberly,

It has been nice having you as a member.  Don't rule out the listings that come across on this web address

http://doodlerescue.org/forum/topics/southeast-ga-fl-ky-nc-sc-tn?gr...

These are listings of doodles or poo mixes in your area of the country.  These are not DRCs dogs, but dogs found in other shelters and rescues.  DRC lists them as a courtesy for those looking to adopt.  It is update periodically.  Keep an eye out daily.

Good Luck

I'll save that link.. So many groups out there for adoption.

Look at this puppy.  He is in Florida
