Not too long ago Ricki posted that her sweet Tara needed to lose some weight.  Tara weighed in at 22.6 pounds and Ricki wanted her to get down to around 20 pounds.

Who you calling FAT??

From a human’s point of view, 2 pounds didn’t seem to be that big of deal to me, but then I realized Tara is just a little bitty dog and didn’t have the same options as I did whenever I went to Weight Watchers for a weigh-in. If one of those weigh-in people would have told me I was still two pounds from my optimum weight goal, I would have told them to hang on while I took off my bra and underwear.

I figured if that didn’t scare them enough to just subtract the two pounds and call it a day then too bad for them. Unfortunately for Tara, she can’t threaten disrobing talk and she doesn’t wear granny panties clothes, so she has no real choice but to lose the weight and when you only weigh 22 pounds, 2 pounds can be a lot to lose.

I guess sometimes what goes around, comes around because when I heard Tara only needed to lose two pounds, I thought big whoop that was completely doable.  I didn’t stop Fudge and Vern from chanting Tara, Tara, two by four, can’t get through the bathroom door.  Nope, I told myself that it didn’t affect me in any way, so who cares? and I was sure Ricki would handle it correctly.  After all, she is a genius.  Well, my indifference and bad attitude has come back to bite me in the you-know-what because Vern weighed in at his last Vet appointment at 100 pounds.  Unfortunately for Vern, the vet had stated at his last visit that she did not want him gaining one more ounce and that was when he weighed in at 96 pounds.  Once I explained to Vern that 100 pounds was more than 96 pounds, he got nervous. On top of that, the vet had the audacity to state on Vern’s records all in capital letters OVERWEIGHT and Vern has orders to lose 5-10 pounds.  Vern has enough trouble with self-image issues without hearing he is overweight and I spent the entire ride home explaining to him that the vet meant to write BIG BONED on his chart.

I refuse to take this lying down!  It is all muscle, I tell ya!

I contacted Ricki immediately for diet tips and she was full of such good advice.  She told me to splash a little ACV on Vern’s food because she heard it kills calories, gave me the name of some low calorie treats, and Tara had this tip for Vern:

Tara has a dieting tip for Vern: Stick close to the person who is the biggest pushover when it comes to doling out treats! Use your most sad and pathetic doodle face on them and you will be just fine.

Could this be the cure for dieting???

But, then she had the best idea ever and said maybe Vern and Tara could have a Doodle Biggest Loser contest.

Well, you know me and the word contest…..I am all over that like white on rice. So, what do you think?  Do we need teams?  Who is going to be Jillian Michaels, Alison Sweeney, and Bob Harper?  I might try out for the part of Alison Sweeney and if you have any doubts I could play the part, I could post a picture of me in an orange bikini. On second thought, I will just save you the trouble of asking.

I see a new reality show in the making.  Calling all ChubbersDoodles!!

We're in!! Samantha I nicknamed my Manatee, sweet, gentle and round! I get a lot of flack from those who love her but the sad truth is she is overweight, must like her Momma!

I hear you, Adrianne! Vern takes after me :) Vern is gonna love this group if it is all girls! LOL

tried embedding the video but it didn't work.

I saw this video and it made me laugh! She was determined to get that ball without getting in the water.

Hilarious, Adrianne!  Trav had that same problem...

Trying sooooo hard to get a stick without getting wet...love the paddling with the front feet...LOL

Ooooops.....eventually he fell in, and all I did was laugh and take pictures...:)

Pat, This is so funny! Our dogs don't like to jump in from the Pontoon boat. They need a doggie ladder :)

Didn't Fudge make that mighty leap one time--and off into the wilderness?  Silly doods!

Yes, she did leap off our boat, but we were close enough to land that she didn't have to get her precious feet wet as she ran away :) She jumped in once with me off the pontoon, but mostly they fight to go down their doggie ladder. She also ran in from shore one time to swim after the geese, but so far has not jumped in from the pier YET! The day is coming, I am sure of it!

Yes, Laurie--one of these days she'll make the big jump.  :)  Maybe you need one of those wooden ducks the hunters use--drift it enticingly by the boat...

I bet that would do the trick, but then I would have her jumping out of the boat all the time :)

Pat, Tara does this same thing! The first time I saw her I had to give up my dream of her being a dock diving dog! LOL!  BTW, nice photos!

Thanks, Ricki.  Yup--nobody told Trav he was a water dog.  I'd love to see Tara trying to get a ball or stick from the water.  )
