Here is an interesting Nova article I found today. It talks about the different way barks sound and what they mean. There is an interactive game you can play to try and identify the meanings. I did pretty horribly... how about you?

I don't know. I had to stop the "game" because my two guys are running through the house trying to find the barking dog. It's pretty funny.
Tried it...did lousy. :( It was fun though! Thanks!
I didn't do very well on that game. The dogs went nuts and started barking...the I see a stranger bark!!
I did half way on the game. When the dog barked "Don't leave me alone" Haley who had been listening with interest came up to me and gave me kisses!
I got three of them right. None of them sounded like doodles to me, lol!
I got four right, anyone else mistake the walk bark for the puppy bark????
I crossed the first two.

When Rouser barks, it sounds vicious and much scarier! No missing what he's saying when someone isn't invited into our home or backyard. And when he wants to go for a walk, he sounds like Chew-baca.

When he wants to eat or see if there is any hope that he is going with us as we collect up our things to leave, he gives us very specific and silent stares. Deep into our eyes.

You know your dog - that's for sure.
I got 4 right, but the last one hardly counts, since there was only one choice left.
I got four right...it would have been easier if you could hear them all first.
I easily translated Callie's bark when she met Gus. She used some VERY unladylike language, which I'm pretty sure she picked up from me!
I just played this for my husband (and Rouser who happened to be in the room).

Rouser DID NOT like the "Stranger" bark and ran over to my computer and woofed.

Then when he heard the attack dog, he barked a few times and ran over to my husband (who was sitting on the floor) and backed into him and sat on his lap (all 90 pounds of him).

Funny, though, when we played the "I want the ball" clip he looked around like he does when he's trying to find a nearby toy. We stopped after that as Rouser was starting to pant and show other signs of stress - I don't think he liked this experiment.
2 right - ugh I am not good at this....but I think I know Daisy's bark better, like right now she is barking her "what the heck is going on bark" haha
