Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Okay, so we are getting ANOTHER goldendoodle.  I never thought I would have 3 big dogs, but with 4 kids who all want to participate in 4H Dog projects, Charlotte's recent health scare, 2 recently adopted kids (a new pup will be as much theirs as everyones - not one more thing they just inherited), and a few other factors, well...here comes another pup.

I will be picking the pup up next week at 9 weeks old.  She is a beautiful chocolate with blue eyes.

We have a bunch of names not available due to numerous extended family dogs, rescued dogs, alpacas, and horses.  We like names with a southern or literary feel to them.  Our current dogs are Charlotte and Webster (Webster's dictionary, Charlotte's Web).

Our short list is: Tessa, Ellie, Ivy, Shelby, Sophie, and Georgia.  My husband and oldest (and newest) son are the picky ones - ugh.  Hubby likes Magnolia (Maggie).

Any suggestions? What do you think about the names I mentioned?  We have 6 people who need to agree and I'm going nuts not knowing her name!!!

She's a little beauty!  Good luck with the name.  :)

I really like Tessa or Maggie....  Adorable pup!! Congrats!

I like Maggie and Tessa. What a pretty pup.
Blue. Blue is very southern, her eyes are blue, and Blu was my nickname.

My sister's dog is Blue, so that is out.  It would make more sense for my puppy than hers, but she got it first :-)

She is sooo cute!!!
I like Tessa and Magnolia. Chocolate with blue eyes... Sounds just lovely!

I think Tessa or Georgia would be great :)  Different sounds from Charlotte and Webster so the dogs will be able to tell their names apart when you're calling them.

She is adorable and looks like a Maggie to me!

You have a Charlotte so Brontë may be pushing it but I DO so love the name.  Alright, being a Southern girl I may have a few for you there and being an avid reader, this could really get interesting.

Ouiser Boudreaux (from Steel Magnolias) is one of my MOST favorite Southern characters and I want to be just like her when I grow up.  (pronounced “wheezer” or if you have a southern accent, “wheeza”)  Names of southern cities like Savannah or Madison or Cairo could be contenders (down here we pronounce that “kay-row”, like the syrup. Don't ASK how we pronounce Albany....) as well as any flower name such as Violet, Lily, Rose, Daisy, Marigold, or even Petunia.  Now, on to the REAL countrifide names I give you Willa,  Waynelle, Etta-Mae, Jaylynne, Twyla, Faylene, Shirlene, Raylene, Earlene, or any other variation ending in “_lene”.

Literary names could be pretty much anything.  What genre were you thinking of?  Classics? Mystery? Syfy? Fantasy?  Authors or characters?  That list is looooong!

Funny thing, though, you guys will settle on a name and the second the puppy comes home you’ll be like NOPE, her name is ___________.  LOL

I'm a tad partial to Tessa as that was my grandmother's name; she went by Tess.

Marnie, I want you to name my next dog!

LOL I'm a very warped woman.

I agree Bonnie:)
