What a lot of rules! My son always chides me about feeding the dogs first and that this is not teaching them "pack order". I guess I got something right bible wise. But I certainly don't consider giving them bits of my food in their bowls a degradation of the food. Does food care to whom it is fed? I respect everyone's right to follow whatever religion they choose but I often don't understand many of the restrictions.
Great article, I have always felt an animal should be fed it's meal before eating myself. I can't say in all circumstance this has worked out that way...but when at home they usually eat before a meal is put on the table.
Im not Jewish but I am a mother. I feed everyone and everything before I feed myself. It is just a natural instinct to provide for those that depend on you before you provide for yourself. My dogs are grazers so their bowls get filled first thing in the morning (I let them outside and then fill their bowls up) then I meake tea while preparing the kids breakfast. Besides I could never cope with the idea of a dog staring at me with those eyes while I was eating and knowing there is no food in her dish. LOL!
Interesting. I feed my dogs first (usually if it is their meal time and mine) simply out of practicality. They are typically ready to eat (and making it known that they are) an hour before their meal time. So to help them chill I feed them 1st for chaos prevention and my sanity because they turn into SUCH suck-up beggers and whiners and pacers until their tummies are full. Tho THEY never think their tummies ARE FULL :)
